"I did it!"
Iris and Dorcas stopped talking the moment they heard the Latina girl's voice as she ran toward them in the middle of the hallway. She threw her arms over Dorcas who giggled slightly as she stumbled back with the impact.
"Did what?" Iris smiled gently as she watched both girls smiling at each other.
"A Patronus! I did it!"
"You did?" Dorcas squealed. "When? How? What is it?"
"It's a horse."
"Really? That's amazing." Iris cheered, before checking up and down the hallway to see if they were alone. Once she made sure she was, she pulled both of them by the hand into an empty classroom. "Come on. I want to see it."
As soon as the three of them were inside, Iris closed the door, before leaning against it. Camilla, quite proudly, let go of Dorcas' hand and stood in the middle of the room. She closed her eyes and took a deep breath. She raised her wand and cried out the incantation, before a beautiful mare came out of her wand, trotting all around them.
"It's beautiful." Iris sighed.
Camilla's eyes were glued in the mare, full of joy, for she had finally – after three weeks – managed to produce a Corporeal Patronus. And now, almost everyone in the Phoenix Class could do it. Dorcas' was a butterfly, Sirius' was a dog, Peter's was a rat, James' was a stag, Lily's was a doe – which caused James to start saying her and Lily Evans were meant to be. Of course, that would mean Iris and Remus were meant to be too, since his Patronus was a wolf, as well, but since they hadn't talk for at least two months, Iris wasn't sure James' theory was right after all. Besides... She knew Camilla and Dorcas were meant to be and look at their Patronus... A horse and a butterfly.
"Everyone can do it now?" Camilla asked once the mare had disappeared.
"I think so." Dorcas nodded.
"What about Jessie?" Iris asked.
"Haven't you heard?" Dorcas frowned as she looked at her. When Iris shook her head, the brunette giggled. "The girl managed to make a Unicorn come out of her wand last week."
"A unicorn?" Iris raised an eyebrow. "You've got to be kidding me."
"Nope."
"Dear God..." Iris giggled. "And to think she pretends to be this punk-rock little girl... A unicorn..."
When Camilla was about to say something, Iris felt the door behind her shake slightly. She yelped startled before she finally recognized the voice outside.
"James." She said, opening the heavy wooden door and staring at the boy in front of her.
"Well, hello." He smirked, before peaking inside over her shoulder. "Well, I expected the place to be a bit messier."
"I'm sorry?" Iris crossed her arms with an amused smile on her lips.
"I mean... We saw you and your friends closed up in a room... We thought you were up to something." Sirius, who was right behind his best friend, answered.
"Saw?" Iris frowned.
"The Map." Peter answered.
"Right... The Map." She rolled her eyes. "I forget about it. Anyway... Why were you spying on me for, then, huh?"
"We weren't spying." James defended. "Not exactly."
"Lily wanted us to call you." Remus said.
Iris nodded, but didn't look directly into his eyes. It's been a while since the two so different, but at the same time so matching, tones of green met.
"Why didn't she do it herself?" She asked.
"She's busy with a Potion." He answered. Now, James, Peter and Sirius had stepped back, watching the two of them interact. "She's breeding Amortentia and apparently, she needs your help."
"She's at the PC?"
"Yeah."
"Okay. I'll go there, then." She announced, before turning to her best friends with a smile. "See you at dinner."
"See you." They smiled as they watched her walk away.
Iris fixed her bag in her shoulder and made her way to the Seventh Floor, to the corridor where she would be able to find the Room of Requirement. Once she made sure she was alone, she walked down the hallway three times wishing to see her sister and when she was done, a door appeared in front of her.
She entered without knocking and she guessed she had made the right decision, because Lily was so into her own little world Iris was sure she wouldn't have listened if she had knocked. So instead of making herself known, Iris walked quietly toward her sister and sat down beside her.
Iris closed her eyes for a second. There was a perfume in the room. For a moment, she caught herself wondering if Lily was wearing a new perfume and she was about to ask her sister if she could borrow it when she remembered Remus' words.
"She's breeding Amortentia."
"That's the love Potion?" Iris asked, as she leaned forward just in time to see Lily throwing rose thorns in the liquid and as they burned, the black thing turned a light shade of pink. She scrunched up her nose.
"Yes." Lily nodded. "Dumbledore asked me to try it out. I'm not sure why, but I'm not arguing with the Professor, now, am I?"
Iris giggled. She could tell her sister was proud of herself for being picked by Dumbledore himself to make a Forbidden Potion for him. And she couldn't blame her. She was talented. Lily Evans was easily the best Potion Breeder at Hogwarts. And Dumbledore picking her only confirmed it.
"And is it working?"
"That's what I need you for."
"I'm sorry? Do you want me to drink it?"
"No! Not like that!" Lily shook her head. "No, see... I've been smelling this the whole day. It's a sickening mixture of something flower-ish, with that weird smell from the Potions class and..." She stopped talking and blushed slightly. Iris stared at her confused. "The Quidditch Pitch. And if you say something. I swear to God..."
"Not saying anything." Iris smirked, putting her hands up in surrender. She was dying to, but she wouldn't. Not now. Lily huffed, but she herself couldn't fight a smile.
"Anyway... I need someone else to try it, before I show it to Professor Dumbledore." She shook her head, pushing the pink liquid toward her sister. "Go on, tell me what you smell."
Iris sighed, but did as she was told. She closed her eyes, suddenly overwhelmed with the warm feeling spreading through her body. She shook her head, trying to focus and when she did, she finally managed to understand what made that smell so appealing.
"I get a flower-ish thing to it too." She said. "And I smell... Books and..." Just like her sister, she stopped talking and blushed. She stared at Lily, knowing she was actually the only person she would ever admit something like this to. "His cologne."
"Whose?" Lily asked, genuinely confused.
"Remus'."
Lily's eyes widened, but after a few seconds, she smiled gently and took her sister's hand in hers.
"Well..." She sighed happily. "At least now I know it works."
"Lily!"
