Nico POV.

Nico looked around the familiar surroundings. The dark coldness, of the underworld radiated around him. But he knew something was off about this visit. He could see the empty faces of the dead, milling around, and hear the hiss of the Styx behind him.

Cerberus barked at him happily prancing around him in circles. Nico smiled and raised his hand to tell him down. Nico frowned looking at his hand.

Realization hit him....Hard.

He was dead.

He was really dead.

Well then.

He lowered his misty, gray hand, and resumed his cold demeanor. He put his hands in his misty jacket pocket. How had he'd died? Big Yellow eyes. That's all he remembered. That was....pathetic.

What would Annabeth tell Reyna? How would Reyna react? Gods, he hadn't even gotten to say goodbye! Would his dad care? Would anyone care?

Okay that hurt.

What if no one cared?

"Nico! Honestly Boy!" He cringed hearing the shrill voice of his step mother. He turned and found her floating among the dead souls her dress was a pale white and boredom filled her features except for the eyes. No the eyes had the tiniest hint of pure, unending, hatred as if she was totally against talking to him. Which she was. She always was. "For the love of Olympus! Don't just stand there! Just because your dead doesn't mean your incapable of moving!"

"But-I-"

"Come on, Boy!" She said turning on heel heading for the magnificent palace of obsolete black. Hades palace. Nico hastily followed turning away from the lines and taking the back entrance with his step-mother. He learned a while ago that he shouldn't leave her waiting. Last time he was turned into a dandelion. that hadn't been fun at all.

They entered from her garden and she led the way up to the steps flowers and plants blooming where she neared and dying when Nico passed.

"Excuse me, lady Persephone," Nico said, "Where are we going? And why?"

"My study." Was all she answered.

Frustrated Nico followed after her, not wanting to risk getting turned into a plant, for more information.

They passed through the palace the servants bowed as they went, though Nico knew that if he had not been with the goddess he would have been ignored as just another dead soul. They stopped two big black doors and Nico could feel the energy on his pale fog-like form. He got an eerie suspicion that if anyone other that Persephone herself touched the doors they would been incinerated until their entire being was destroyed and not even their soul was left.

The goddess raised her arms and pushed through the doors opening the room to a beautiful coloration of book and flowers that moved in imaginary wind and transformed into elegant displays.

Nico raised an eyebrow.

"It was Hades anniversary gift to me. Ever so thoughtful." She said dully. With a wave of her hand flowers gathered together morphing into two comfortable chairs. Persephone sat in on and motioned for Nico to sit in the other.

Nico tentatively sat down, though he wasn't worried about falling through the stem seat or getting pricked by rose thorns. He winced waiting for a reaction as the colorful flowers hissed and died as he got near them.
