Virgil's P.O.V

The glow of the moon shines down on the lake making it glisten and I can hear the soft wind blowing as the rain gently falls. It's beautiful. As I revel in the serene surroundings I hear someone call out my name. While looking for the source of the voice the scenery begins changing into a somber looking forest with twisted and contorted trees. I see someone in the distance and a heavy thunderstorm is beginning to form. They yell my name again.

"Virgil, please!" They sound in pain.

The voice is all distorted and I can't make out who it is but I start running towards them anyway. I run as fast as I can but it feels like they are getting further and further away. Unable to run anymore I fall to my knees and attempt to catch my breath. I hear someone coming up behind me and when I turn to face them it's---.

I shoot up sweating and try to catch my breath. Then someone knocks on my door startling me. It makes me jump. I grab my phone and check the time, 3:00 am. The devil's hour. I hear another knock so I get up to answer the door shocked to see someone I didn't expect.

"Princey?" I ask.

He looks at me suspiciously before asking, "Are you alright? Can I come in?"

Still shocked it takes me a minute to respond.

"Why, it's 3 am and I'm busy anyway," I say.

As I start to close the door, he puts his hand against it and stops it.

"You didn't answer my question, are you alright?" he asks.

I open the door again and look at him clearly showing my annoyance.

"Why do you care, you never did before?" I ask. I instantly realize I said it out loud but can't take it back. Nice one.

"I swear I don't know why we bother with you, sometimes I wish you weren't even here," he says. Told you.

I hold back tears as I respond, "Good point, maybe I shouldn't be."

I push him out of my doorway before slamming the door shut and lock it before sliding down, pulling my knees to my chest.

"Virgil wait, I don't know why I said that. I'm sorry, please open the door," he says.

I hear a boom of thunder outside and turn towards my window to see heavy rain.

Princey keeps talking saying, "I'll just talk to you tomorrow. I really am sorry."

I hear him walk away from my door and once I hear his door close I start crying. After awhile I feel myself falling asleep.

I wake up a few hours later in front of my door?

"Why am I in front of my..." I start but before I can finish all of the events from last night flash through my mind. [I swear I don't know why we bother with you, sometimes I wish you weren't even here.]

Before I can start crying again I decide to get up and find Patton.

"He always says I can talk to him and sometimes he does help," I say to myself. Are you really going to bug him? I finish getting ready, making sure I grab my jacket and head towards the kitchen to see Patton cooking pancakes.

"Morning kiddo, want some pancakes, I made your favorite!" he looks up at me smiling.

"Sure... Hey, Dad can I talk to you about something?" I ask. Stop bugging him.

"Of course you can kiddo," he says as he sets the pancakes aside and walks towards me, "What's on your mind?"

I start playing with the sleeves of my sweater before I say, "Well, it's about.."
