May Eighteenth 2007
I sat beside Colson in the back yard of the party. I rested my head against his side, his arm holding me close and keeping me warm, this is why I always wear hoodies and jeans. Colson looked down softly at me, smiling as he jumped up, pulling me with him.
"Oh what now, Wild Boy?" I giggled as he smirked and dragged me through the yard, down a few blocks until a small little home sat. Colson stopped on the porch, his smirk still plastered on his face as he moved a large outside chair and there sat a small box. He opened it, pulling out two hoodies. I shook my head and giggled as he replaced the chair and handed me a A Day To Remember hoodie, which I quickly knew I would never return to him. "So what, you keep clothes scattered through the city?" I joked causing him to laugh as he pulled his hoodie on, I did the same, and he soon grabbed my hand and tugged me off the porch and down the dimly lit street.
"Nah, that's my Aunt's house, I keep clothes outside in case I need something and she's already asleep." He shrugged as I smiled at him. "She works hard and I don't wanna disturb her, ya know?" I nodded, knowing exactly what he meant. He chuckled softly as he looked down at me. "You can't even see your dress with the hoodie on." I rolled my eyes at his remark.
"You're such a little gentleman Colson. Tell me something I don't know, Mr. Giant." I looked up at him, seeing a pure smile spread across his face, showing the crinkles by his eyes, making the blue pop more than they already do. I took a mental picture, knowing I would need to remember this innocent beautiful smile on his face.
"I love when you say my name."He paused and chuckled. "I think you look adorable." I feel a squeeze, looking down to see him holding my hand even tighter than before. Everything began to flood my mind at once. Amelia you're 16, you're a fucking street kid who works at a god damn club in order to keep the house you and your mother share. This boy knows nothing about you, you don't know this boy from adam. You can't actually care about him. Oh but I already did. This Wild Boy already had me wrapped around his damn finger. To make my mind stop running, I reached down on my hip, feeling my inside my small bag for my small red iPod and headphones. Finally I found both, quickly plugging the headphones in, I put one earbud in, handing the other to Colson, who smiled wide as he two put the headphone in. I smirked as I clicked on the first song I saw, Since U Been Gone covered by A Day To Remember. I couldn't help but sing along, making Colson laugh and do the same. We walked down the streets of Cleveland at 2 am singing along, rather loudly, at one another. I couldn't imagine anything better than this.

"And, we are here my lovely." Colson dramatically motioned towards a large open field that looked absolutely beautiful at night. I dropped his hand and ran forwards, ripping the earbud out of Colson's ear but I didn't care. Open fields were my absolute favorite thing! I spun, acting like a small child as I giggled and looked up at the star filled sky, feeling such a weird feeling of happiness and peace. I looked over where I had left Colson, seeing him smiling wide as he held his phone in his hand, snapping pictures as I crossed my arms, trying to act mad, but I knew it wasn't going to work.
"What, Wild Boy?" I smirked as he slid his phone into his pocket before walking towards me.
"I've never seen someone be so happy in some random field." He chuckled as I shrugged looking around us again.
"It's just so beautiful, I mean look at the stars, how clearly you can see them." I paused as I walked around the field again, feeling the grass graze my bare ankles. I quickly lifted my foot, undoing my chucks and slipping them off, stuffing my socks inside as I lifted them into my right hand. "The damp grass, untouched by the bullshit of the city." I wiggled my toes in the grass as Colson came up behind me, his long arms wrapping around my waist.
"Don't forget the beautiful hippy spinning circles." He said softly, causing me to let out a small laugh, turning my head to look at him.
"That too, but I don't think all fields have a beautiful hippy spinning circles." I shot back, making him roll his eyes as he spun me around by my hips.
"You're so-" He paused, looking deeply into my deep blue eyes, his light blue ones shimmering in the moonlight. "Different." He finished, not looking satisfied in his choice of words.
"How do you mean?" I questioned softly as I lifted one hand, tracing his jaw line with my black painted nails. He sucked in a breath, holding completely still as I traced his perfect jaw line.
"I-I don't- You make everything normal seem-" He paused, placing his large hand atop my dainty one. "Extraordinary." He smiled down at me again. "You make a shitty field seem like the most rad thing ever." I chuckled, rolling my eyes.
"That's because it is." He now rolled his eyes, watching me softly. We stood in a peaceful silence, just holding onto each other, my head pressed against his chest, his arms tightly wrapped around my waist, while mine were also wrapped around his torso, being as I was way too small to reach his neck. I closed my eyes, memorizing the steady beat of his heart against my cheek, the way his body radiated heat, keeping me warm in the chilly May air. I took a deep breath, making a mental note of just how good he smelled, like Ax and weed yet also a tiny but of what I could only classify as, just, Colson.
"Tell me Amelia," Colson pulled back, moving me farther into the field, his eyes never leaving me. "-what made you come to that party tonight?" I chuckled softly as we both sat in the soft grass.
"A crazy witch named Sloan." He laughed, making my body relax and lean against him slightly. "I'm not much of a party girl." I shrugged as he moved, sitting in front of me rather than beside me.
"Why?" I rolled my eyes as he just grinned, making me want to melt into his arms.
"I work a lot, to help out my mom and to pay for my college." Colson scrunched his brows at my words making me giggle. "What? Does me going to college shock you?" He shook his head laughing softly as he grabbed both my hands in his, tracing invisable designs on them.
"No, it's not that. It-It's just that I don't think I know one person that actually plans on going to college." I laughed, knowing that was more than likely true. College wasn't on most kids minds. I shrugged, watching him as he smiled wide at me. "What do you wanna study or major in or whatever?" He asked so calmly, sounding very interested in my words.
"Uh, I want to be an RN, so nursing school after I get my gen Ed's done." I looked down at our hands, mine almost disappeared in his large ones.
"You wanna be a nurse?" He sounded so shocked making me giggle.
"I guess I'm full of surprises." This time we laughed together, falling into a peaceful silence. Colson moved back beside me, placing his arm around me, letting me lean against him as we stared up at the beautiful night sky.
____
Hours had past, the sky was a dark purple as I laid on the grass, my head on Colson's shoulder as he softly hummed some Blink song to me, causing my eyes to slightly droop. I don't know what he is about this crazy Wild Boy, but he's got this, hold I guess, on my heart and I feel like no matter how hard I try to get away this little shit is always going to come back to me.
And I can't quite decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing.
