Chapter 4

I stood in front of the mirror in my bedroom trying on different outfits for tonight. I couldn’t decide. I have no idea where we’re going or what we’re doing so picking an outfit was difficult to say the least. I heard my phone buzz so I reached to pick it up, it was Katie:

“Hi!” I said happily, I hadn’t been this excited in a long time.

“Hey! I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tonight? Maybe have a girly night in?” She asked, her usual chipper self.

“I can’t sorry!” I paused, my voice apologetic. “I have a date!” I said in a suggestive tone, giggling to myself slightly.

“With who?!” She exclaimed, clearly shocked.

“Beau Brooks.”

“As in the Beau Brooks? Luke’s brother?” She questioned, his tone wary.

“Yeah. Why do you sound so weird?” I laughed.

“It’s nothing…” She whispered, “he just has a bit of a reputation that’s all!” She laughed. I decided to shrug it off and not tell her about the whole kissing thing; I didn’t need her telling me all the other girls he’s kissed.

“Well I gotta go, I have to pick an outfit for tonight!” I told her truthfully.

“Okay, hope you have a good night!” She said happily before hanging up. I threw my phone on my bed before going back to my wardrobe and letting out a groan of frustration.

I decided on a floral playsuit and some gold sandals. I wore my hair loose and natural and only wore some mascara and some lipgloss. I was actually beginning to feel nervous – I hadn’t been on a date since him. I heard the front door bell ring and I began to feel flutters in my stomach. What if I wasn’t dressed right? I began to panic, before taking in 3 deep breaths.

I grabbed my bag and headed to the front door. I opened it to be faced with Beau; he looked breath taking. He was wearing vans, chinos and a stripy jumper and a snapback. His green eyes shone as he looked at me.

“Hi.” He said softly, “You look beautiful.” He said, reaching out for my hand. I placed my hand in his, feeling my cheeks begin to flush a pale pink.

“You don’t look too bad yourself.” I smiled, walking to his car with his hand in mine. He let go of my hand and opened the door before closing it as I got in.

“So where we going?” I asked him. He turned to face me and winked cheekily.

“If I told you, I’d have to kill you!” He laughed, taking my hand and squeezing it softly. I hit his arm playfully with my free hand.

The car pulled up to what can only be described as woods. I looked to Beau; he was reaching into the boot of his car. He pulled out a brown wicker basket, flashing a smile my way. He locked the car before walking to me and taking my hand in his. We walked for a few minutes in a comfortable silence until reaching a more secluded part of the woods.

“Turn around.” Beau whispered into my ear, the warmth of his breath lingering on my skin. I waited for a few minutes for Beau to do whatever he was doing. “You can turn back around.” Beau told me. I turned around; it was absolutely beautiful. There was a picnic blanket and an array of food and two champagne flutes and a bottle of champagne. I stood with my mouth open in complete shock.

“You did this all for me?” I ask him, unable to get my words out clearly.

“Of course.” He smiled, taking my hand and leading me to the blanket.

“No one’s ever done anything like this for me.” I told him truthfully. He turned to me and raised his eyebrows in surprise. He reached for the champagne before opening it and pouring some into my glass. “I hope you’re not trying to get my drunk!” I laughed, taking a sip and feeling the liquid slither down my throat.

“I would never do that…”He laughed, putting his arm around my waist and pulling me closer to him.

About an hour passed and it was beginning to get dark. We’d spent the time laughing and chatting. Beau was nothing like Katie had said.  “I’ve had a really good time.” Beau told me, a smile on his face.

“Me too. I’ve never been on a date like this before.” I said truthfully.

“I’ve never been on a date with a girl like this before.” He smiled.

“Is that a compliment?” I laughed, taking a sip of my drink again.

“Of course!” He said quickly. “You’re different to the other girls. You don’t pretend to be anything you’re not.” He said, his voice soft. I felt his hand on my cheek and his thumb trace my cheek slowly. He leaned in closer to me, his lips only brushing mine slightly. I placed my hands around his neck, pulling his lips onto mine. His tongue traced my top lip and I felt his hands on the small of my back. He drew away but his forehead was still leaning against mine.

“I really like you Kalli.” He whispered, his voice low. I felt like my stomach was doing somersaults as he spoke. How could someone like him like someone like me? I thought the feeling in my stomach were merely excitement, but there was something else. A tinge of…
