"Mama? Papa?" Maria asks before getting engulfed into large hugs. As their hugging, the clerk starts to sneeze.
"I'm sorry, who's alebrije is that?" He asks pointing to Dante who's trying to steal something off his plate.
"Thats just Dante." Miguel pulls the dog away.
"He sure doesn't look like an alebrije." Rosetta points to the colorful, flying animals outside the window.
"He just looks like a plain old dog. Or a sausage someone dropped in a barbershop." The twins joke.
"Well whatever he is, I am *achoo* terribly allergic." The clerk picks up his fallen glasses and a strip of tape.
"But Dante doesn't have any hair." Miguel tries to say.
"And I don't have a nose and yet here we are."
"Whats going on here? Can someone tell us why our daughter is here?" Maria's mama Gabriella asks.
"Miguel stole from the dead and got himself and your daughter cursed." Imelda glares at Miguel. "But none of this explains why I couldn't cross the bridge."
"Oh." Miguel slowly pull out Imelda and Cocos photo.
"You took my photo off the ofrenda!?" She shouts angrily at him before turning swiftly to the clerk. "How do we send them back?"
"Well, since it's a family matter, Miguel just need his families blessing." The clerk explains.
"Thats it?" Miguel shrugs.
"Get your families blessing and everything should go back to normal. But you gotta do it before sunrise." The clerk points at Miguel sternly, and serious.
"What happens at sunrise?" Miguel lifts his hand making Julio yell at him loudly. Miguel looks at his finger to see his bone. He feels faint but is quickly slapped awake by Julio. Maria looks at her hand to see that almost all of her hand is now skeleton.
"Dont worry, your family is here." The clerk gets down from his desk and talks to himself before finding a petal on the hem of Rosetta's dress. After apologizing, he pulls of the petal and explains how to use it.
"I give you my blessing to go home, to put up my photo, and to never play music again!" Imelda orders.
"What! She can't do that!" Miguel turns guikly to the clerk.
"Technically, she can add any condition she wants."
"But what about me?" Maria asks from her mother's hug.
"Once Miguel touches the petal, you will also go back. You came together, you leave together." Maria sighs in relief and looks to Miguel who is thinking his option over.
"Fine." Miguel finally accepts and reaches for the petal. Once he touched it, Miguel and Maria find themselves back in Ernesto's shrine. Miguel laughs and runs to the window.
"No skeletons." He observes. Laughing, he looks at his now fleshy finger. He smirks and turns to the guitar. Before Maria can stop him, Miguel takes the guitar and runs back only to run straight into the clerks desk.
"Two seconds and you already break your promise!" Imelda accuses.
"Its not fair, its my life, you already had yours. Papa Julio, I ask for your blessing. Tia Rosetta? Tio Oscar, Tio Felipe? Tia Victoria?" Miguel asks around but is turned down each time.
"Dont make this difficult Miguel. You go home my way or no way." Imelda says softly.
"You really hate music that much?" Miguel glares.
"I will not let you go down the same path he did!" Imelda shouts.
Miguel stays quiet as he pulls out the photo at the headless man. Maria looks down at her hand, more of her bone showing than Miguel.
"Miguel, don't force Maria to stay. Maybe you should ask her what she thinks." Gabriella said.
Miguel looks to Maria, who looks at him sternly. He smiles and nods before hiding placing his hands in front of him.
"Con permiso. I...need to visit the restroom." Miguel opens the door as Maria continues.
"We'll be right back." The two kids than slam the door and run off.
"Should someone tell them that there are no restrooms in the land of the dead?" The clerk asks.
