"Kate. Stay in the car. Do you understand me!? Do. Not. Move." Javi spoke, one last time as he slammed the van door. And just like that, Kate was alone. Kate instantly felt a sense of uneasiness set in as soon as she was alone. Being without Javi was a nightmare.
Gabe was supposed to be outside the van protecting Kate and the baby, but he had made it more than clear that he had other priorities in mind.
Proving himself to Clementine—of course— being on top of the list.
Clementine on the other hand had an entirely different agenda. She was fighting her way home solely for the purpose of picking up AJ. Her boots hit the ground hard as she went, her knife cutting a line before her as she made it to Christa's.
Some blood had gotten on her, but it wouldn't even show half of what she had just been through. Clementine was a warrior.
"Christa! Open up! We need to go now. We need to take AJ and go!" Clementine screamed, instantly working to unlock the door before stumbling inside. Just as blind with emotion as before, Clementine took off running upstairs. She tripped up them, practically falling on her face until she entered AJ's room.
Everything became quiet again, and she looked around.
There was no sign of Christa or AJ.
Where in the hell were they!?
"Christa! AJ!? Christa!?" Clementine called out, her heart racing as she set off to go search through the other rooms.
No sign of them, and absolutely no sign of struggle either. Her pulse accelerated as she felt some of her hope die. "N-no...no. No. No!"
Clementine felt the guilt hit her hard. She immediately jumped to the worst conclusion.
Of course she did, because she had been down at the park with Gabe. She hadn't been here, keeping them safe.
Her honey brown eyes welled with tears as she quickly bolted down the stairs. For all she knew, they could be right outside. But for the current moment, she couldn't stop the anxious breaths that escaped her parted lips.
"I'm going to find you, AJ." Clementine spoke, determination in her voice as she exited the house and glanced around. The sight around her was nothing short of startling.
Richmond's streets were overrun and seething with the dead. The walkers were everywhere. Clementine heard a loud cry, another person getting bit and dragged down by the dead.
Quickly, she took off in a steady jog over to the sight. One swift movement of the blade landed directly into the walker's skull. A tiny grunt escaped her as she pulled the knife back.
The poor woman reached up to her, blood pouring down her neck.
"H-help me." She whispered, the whites of her eyes soon being the only thing Clementine could see as she passed away.
Once more, Clementine had to make the tough choices. The girl quickly lunged the blade through her skull, turning around and kicking her foot into what she thought was the next walker.
But instead, she heard a loud thump and groan.
"Clem!" Luke responded, laughing some as the girl just kicked his ass. He sat up some, rubbing the back of his head. He'd sure be sore tomorrow.
"What the hell is going on?! We need to get out of here now. Where's AJ?" Luke asked, his voice serious and concerned.
He was already forced back to his feet, his machete forcefully moving into the skull of a nearby walker. With one hard kick of the boot, it fell back, leaving Luke on defense again.
