I knew I loved Levi the moment, in an instant, I dreamed of a future that included him.

I imagined what it would be like to come home to him from work every day.

Waking up to his face and falling asleep, wrapped in his arms.

I thought about where we could travel to for holidays and what kind of traditions we could start together.

I knew I loved him the first moment he came through for me on his promise. ---And he always did.

I found a confidant in him that I never had before.

He became my best friend.

He became my home.

Levi freely told me he loved me as soon as he knew it to be true.

It took me a lot longer to admit to my feelings because I never experienced or knew what true love was supposed to be like. I was living in a world where people were telling me they loved me as they were taking advantage of me. My mother would blame me for her relationships ending but tell me she loved me shortly after. My father would call from jail when I was younger and tell me he loved me, but it can't be love if they hurt you.

I didn't know what it was supposed to be like.

The night I told Levi that I loved him was one of the most nerve wrecking nights of my life.

I don't like emotions or displaying my own but I needed to show him that I was just as committed to this relationship as he was.

I didn't want him to think that I wasn't taking, us, seriously.

I didn't want to risk losing him because he was the missing piece in my life that I only ever dreamed of finding.

I stayed home that day from school to set up. I didn't have any elaborate plans but I knew I would be so nervous that algebra would be the last thing on my mind.

The living room was lit up with white lights, dangling down from the walls. I had to use an assortment of various sized bulbs because some of the lights were dimmer then others.

I tossed pillows onto the ground in the living room for comfort and turned on the diffuser to fill the space with sweet orange.

I made a tray of his favorite finger foods and put it inside the fridge, along with the cheesecake I bought from the store earlier.

I needed this to go perfectly.
