CHAPTER TEN.

Finn exhaled deeply, their hand hanging outside of the window and their hair whipping around in the wind. Miles ignored his phone vibrating as blueberrieskorrasami made a post on Instagram, instead keeping his eyes on the road. A mix of Dodie and CupcakKe played quietly between them, a strange peacefulness in the air.

"This isn't something that real people do," Finn finally broke the silence, adjusting so that their hand snaked back into the car and rested against their cheek. They closed their eyes to block out the morning sun, the old minivan lacking any visors. Miles glanced over, noticing the lack of humor in their voice.

Finn seemed tired, but managed a small smile nonetheless as Miles quirked up an eyebrow. "What does that mean?"

"It means that we're fully trusting these two aliens. We don't even know if they're actually aliens. This could all be a social experiment. What if we're being filmed?" Miles listened as Finn began to ramble, listing off several different scenarios, all that included disproving the existence of otherworldly life and the situation they had found themselves in.

"Finn," Miles finally interrupted them, sighing as he brought the car to a halt. They could hear the roar of semitrucks and the screeching of tires on the highway, but they sat calmly on an off road, where not too many tended to travel. He shut off the car, desperate to save as much money as he could help.

Finn sat patiently, a faraway look in their eyes. Miles could not make out what they were thinking, for not even he knew every detail of the college kid's past.

"None of this can be fake, because that means both Lia and Chayse would be in on it, and they're stupid. I know that it's... weird that all of this is happening, but it still is."

"That's the thing... why didn't we run?" Equations flew through Finn's mind, staring at Miles intently.

"Chayse and Lia they– Allura says they have some sort of connection to their Lions. So, maybe they would have happened to find their way to the Castle no matter what," Finn began to nod, finally accepting the inevitable. They sighed as a silent realization and a thousand new worries fell upon their shoulders.

"Okay. Anyways," the second eldest continued as the second youngest pulled back onto the road, their destination five minutes ahead. "School starts back up for you three young ones in two weeks. Ro and I start our fall semesters right after. I will beat ass if we fall behind."

"Okay, Chayse. Damn," Miles chuckled. "At this point I doubt if we have control over if we go back to school or not. And honestly, thank God."
