❝ ANIMALS ON BOARD. ❞CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR.
Tweetie didn't often care about human problems. He of course cared about his humans' wellbeing and feelings, but when it came to humans in general it was hard for him to put too much of his little corgi heart into it. Before the Babs, he had been mistreated day after day, cast out onto the street. He had been kicked and starved and worst of all abandoned. He had so much love to give, and the bipedal beasts had never returned it. Human beings were cruel creatures, greedy and selfish and in the end all they cared about was survival of the fittest.
That didn't mean he wasn't interested in the drama.
At first Tweetie had just came into the kitchen for his lunch, called over the intercoms by a very excited Coran (the two had bonded nicely ever since that first rough night Once again, Tweetie loved his five humans, but that summer they could only provide the bare minimum for him. Dry kibble every day with the occasional McDonald's fry got tiring so Coran was a nice change, the man throwing nontoxic space goo and other little treats in with every meal.)
Towards the end of his meal though, three new figures came barreling into the room practically tripping over one another. He had immediately recognized the scent of Finn and Rowan and couldn't control his tail as it began wagging, but that didn't last long when he finally caught a whiff of Princess Allura.
Now Tweetie was not biased, he had learnt in his long years that bias led to betrayal, and betrayal was worse than death. So he had learned his lesson, and therefore he didn't hate Allura. He didn't even dislike her in fact— she was just a young soul who so desperately wanted to be kind and gentle but could not with the path the universe had pushed her down.
But he also knew that there was currently nothing else in this world that could make Finn as angry as when it came to Allura.
"Coran, you have to tell them—"
"Coran doesn't have to tell you anything!" Rowan immediately cut her off.
"They are kids, Allura, children!" Finn continued on, their usually pale face red in their rare anger. "We got our Bayards yesterday, they deserve a few hours to go mess around!"
"None of you understand!" The Altean snapped. Her glittering eyes were becoming more damp by the second, and with one sniff Tweetie was able to tell she was genuinely distraught. "It's a war for the whole universe, including your planet. And we're the only ones that can fight in it."
"Drop it! When you want to stop being so rude to our kids then we'll consider taking this war seriously. Get your own act together first."
