CHAPTER FOURTEEN.

"No, he's not getting Black. He's getting Blue!"

"No, he's getting Black!"

"I'm gonna beat your face black and blue if you don't—"

"We don't even know how the Black and Blue Lions work," Finn pointed out. The five friends sat in a 'sharing circle,' the three that had already been assigned to their colors talking out loud, Miles and Rowan forced to stay quiet and listen to their arguing. They were supposed to be training, but found themselves on the floor excitedly chatting.

"It's the vibe," Lia tried to reason, "who gives a fuck about the actual intricies."

"Intricacies," Chayse corrected, looking at her older sister in a demeaning manner.

"Yeah, yeah, intricies. Anyways–"

"Are you not putting thought into your assumptions?" The five turned towards the sixth presence, staring at her blankly. Allura had been standing near them the entire time, by some miracle not scolding them when they sat down.

She shyly stood in between Finn and Lia, her hands clasped in front of her. Her face became redder the longer the group stared blankly, sighing in relief when Lia spoke up.

"Why would we do that?"

"Hey, I'm putting thought into my guess. My educated guess," Finn corrected.

"May I join?" The woman requested, gesturing to the floor.

"Of course," Rowan nodded, returning the smile that arose on Allura's cheeks.

"Well–" the Altean lowered herself to the ground so that she could be on the level as the five, before pointing to the only 16 year old boy in the room. "I believe Miles will become the Blue Paladin. He has shown several attributes that Blue looks for in her pilots. I'm just surprised he isn't more like Lance."

Miles' attention was immediately drawn to the new name, and went to point it out. He found he couldn't, his body frozen as his eyes flashed with a bright image.

"Really? He wears more black than blue," Chayse wondered. Allura frowned, staring at her in disappointment.

"Chayse... you were the first one to become a Paladin, you should know that it has nothing to do with your attire."
