CHAPTER TWO: HANDSOME STRANGER
____
"I'm sorry... are you okay?"
Suddenly all your eyes met was a protruding adam's apple, he towered over you but not as if he had been extremely taller than you.
"Yes, I'm fine. Thank you for asking, as well as stopping him from taking my money, I appreciate it." You bowed to him.
"It's no problem. Though, I just hope you don't mean what you said about me earlier. I mean, I don't think I'm a heartless asshole, so-..." He calmly dug his hands into his pockets.
"I'm sorry, but I thought you were being rude to him. That's why." You explained yourself to him, and all he did was slightly raise the corner of his lips, forming a small smile.
"Why don't you join me for some breakfast? As a little thank you..?" The stranger suggested.
"Wait- so you really think that just because you stopped a homeless man from taking my money, you think I'm going to instantly fall for you?" A confused look had crept upon your face.
The man knew he screwed up since his eyes widened and the way you had reacted, his heart rate began increasing and he panicked, "No! No! It's not like that, agh- I'm so sorry if it seemed that way! I was just asking since we're here right now so why not." He apologized.
You lightly chuckled at his actions and how he struggled to hide his blush, "I'd love to, but I have to head to work."
"Missing a day of work shouldn't be a big deal, just call in sick." The man once again had suggested, his face still quite red. "That way we can go eat breakfast. My name's Joshua, Joshua Hong it's a pleasure." He introduced himself to you with a handshake.
"Hello Joshua, My name's Kwon (Y/n), a pleasure to meet you as well." You returned his handshake, you quickly examined him, taking in all his features. And boyyy was he smoking.
His brown hair had framed his defined face perfectly, and those brown chocolate eyes that were so mesmerizing, his light-pink lips literally standing out so much, like he was literally more beautiful than like 80% of the human population.
"So, what do you say? You coming?" He asked, beginning to step out a bit.
You hesitated, but who wouldn't? You could sacrifice getting in trouble for arriving late to work, or you could call in sick and give yourself a break by heading out to eat breakfast with your new acquaintance, Joshua Hong.
He was now a few feet away from you, patiently waiting for your decision. At least he wasn't complaining for you taking too long to decide, most people would, which is relieving. You at least now know he's not short-tempered.
You quickly walk over to him, and the two of you soon begin walking in sync.
"So, what do you work as?" Joshua began trying to start up a conversation.
"I'm a cosmetologist, so I work in like hair and make up. What about you do you work?" You returned the question.
Joshua stuttered, "Well, I've been looking for a job recently actually. My-um.. last job wasn't satisfied with my work so I was fired about a week ago."
"Aw, I'm sorry to hear that. Luckily, there's a ton of jobs available at the area, so it should be easy." She tried her best to comfort him, "Heck, you can even become a model.." You mumbled, thinking he didn't hear.
"Thank you, it's nice to hear a compliment every once in a while, especially from someone new." Joshua let out a small laugh as he stole a glance at you as well, "You're pretty too, so now you're not the only one who's embarrassed." He smiled.
"Oh shut up!" You laughed and softly nudged his shoulder.
"Also, weren't you supposed to call your boss or whatever?" He asked.
"That's right! Hold on one sec." You began rummaging through your bag, looking for your phone. You clicked on your workplace's number and quickly leaned your head back in order to make yourself sound sick.
"(Y/n)! Where the heck have you been? You're an hour late!" Your boss began yelling, making you distance your phone a bit from your ear.
"Sorry Capt'n, I'm not feeling so well this morning. I don't think I'll be able to work today." You responded.
"Aww, Lilliam Pumpernickle, do you want me to head over later?"
You rolled your eyes at the nickname, "Hwang Younghee, what did I tell you about calling me that? Just because you're my boss doesn't instantly mean that you become the older one." You scolded her with a 'nasally' voice.
"You didn't answer my question~" Younghee singsonged with her non-existent singing skills, literally almost making your ear bleed.
You sniffled to make your act more convincing, "No, it's alright. My.. cousin came over today and he's helping me around the house."
"Your cousin? A he? Who is he and why haven't I met him?" Younghee began her little interrogation.
"His name is.." You looked at Joshua for a little help with your lie. Joshua leaned down to your ear and whispered. "His name is Jisoo. You haven't met him since he was born in LA. And he surprised me earlier today."
"Ah- I see. Then I'll come by tomorrow to check up on you. Get well soon, bye!" And with that she ended the phone call, you turned to Joshua who was offering a high five and not wanting to leave him hanging, you returned it.
"Let's go, I know the perfect place to go. Trust me, you'll love it." Joshua had taken a hold of your wrist and gently held on as he led you throughout the beautiful city of Seoul.
"It better be worth it." You teased.
"It will, if not, it gives me more of a reason to take you take you out again."
