CHAPTER FOUR: Worth It

____

Since the day the two of you had parted ways, you were stuck on Joshua's mind.

He should've asked for your number, or even ask where he could find her. But, he didn't, and now guilt was dominating his entire body. It's been 3 days since then, and lately he's been hanging around the street you met on, hoping you'll walk by once again.

Not seeing you walk had made him question if you had really taken his advice and quit walking to work and took a cab instead or even drove.

You had corrupted his mind so much that he couldn't even focus on his online applications for jobs. It was getting later and later, and Joshua's cups of coffee began stacking up.

A little ring filled the small silence of the shop. It was a man, around Joshua's height and his hair had been died a light blonde. The man quickly walked over to the cashier and placed his order.

Less than a minute later another ring is heard. Revealing a girl that was shorter than him and probably reached the other guy's chin or so. She had ran behind him and stopped once she was by his side at the counter.

"Cheater. I thought I told you to wait." She complained to the man, whom Joshua assumed is her boyfriend.

"Not my fault you have short legs. So, don't complain, I won fair and square." The man teased her before placing his arm around her waist and giving her a forehead kiss, soon moving to her lips.

"Tae! We're in public, dummy." The girl squealed as the guy gave her small tickles every chance he had gotten.

"Good. Helps me make sure everyone knows you belong to me, and only me. Not Jungkook, okay?" The man whose name was Tae playfully scolded.

"But Jungkook is so sweet! Did you see the cookies he gave me? I wanna adopt!" The girl giggled, taking a hold of her boyfriend's hand, who was pouting as she spoke.

Joshua swore that he had heard that voice before, and if it wasn't who he thought it'd be, he's gone crazy. He kept his gaze on the couple, and from what it seems they felt his gaze too.

The couple turned and Joshua immediately looked away, trying to be discreet the best way possible. The guy turned back to the cashier, but once Joshua tried to steal a glance once again, he was spotted.

It was her. It was Kwon (Y/n). The same (Y/n) he met 3 days ago and treated to breakfast, the same (Y/n) that he chickened out on starting a friendship ship. The same one who's been stuck in his head like a tattoo.

She looked different, this time she wasn't wearing makeup, and had her hair up in a ponytail, and was wearing more laid-back clothing. This clothing style seemed to suit (Y/n) more. In just a couple of days, she looked more beautiful than before.

And she had a boyfriend, he knew it. He did cross the line with the hand kiss. But he couldn't help but wonder what it'd be to be the man who you call yours. Growing up, Joshua never really showed an interest in dating, so he never understood the concept of love.

All these thoughts and emotions were completely new to him. Was this what they call admiration or love?

It can't be love can it? He only knew her for a few hours, but here she is. Joshua finally found her once again.

(Y/n) locked eyes with him, surprised to even see him here. She was tempted to speak to him, but with Tae here? What would he think? The two of you had barely made up from a recent argument, and what if he thinks that you cheated on him with Joshua?

Ring Ring!

Just your luck. Taehyung's phone rang, and he checked the collar ID before whispering to you to take care of the drinks while he went out and answered.

In less than two minutes the coffees were finished, and your boyfriend was still outside on the phone, leaving you to pay for the cups of coffee. And assuming you had some time left-over, you took a seat across Joshua.

Your sudden appearance left him wide-eyed, your actions being unexpected.

"It's been a while (Y/n).." Joshua began moving his job applications to the side, and shutting his computer down.

"It has Joshua. I'd like to thank you once again for the breakfast and the incident with the man. How have you been?" You asked him as you played with your cup of coffee.

"I've been alright. Didn't expect to see you here though, it's nice to see you again. And it was my pleasure, I hope you enjoyed the food." He smiled.

Then your mind clicked.

"It will, if not, it gives me more of a reason to take you take you out again."

Your remembered his words, and decided to remind him of what he said.

"Actually, I don't think the restaurant was worth it." You calmly spoke. Joshua's head shot up in confusion and seemed somewhat offended. That's when you shot, "Looks like you'll have to take me out again." Your smirked.

Joshua let out a breathy chuckle, somewhat scoffing. "Wow, you're smooth. But you clearly have a boyfriend, wouldn't he get the wrong idea?" He asked, tilting his head.

"It's possible. But, why should he get mad when you clearly said your intention wasn't to date me or anything of some sort? We're acquaintances, it's not like I'm cheating on him. I love him, and he knows that." You took a sip of your black coffee.

Joshua hesitated.

"Fine.. I'll take you out. On one condition only: I get your number."
