CHAPTER EIGHT: ANGEL
____
You spent a good amount of time catching up with your little brother, you'd remember how you'd tease him that no girl would ever like him because he was ugly, but look at him now, he has millions of girls willing to drop whatever they're doing just to get a single look from him.
He had finally told you about him being an idol, and how he was in a group who called themselves Seventeen, and was signed in Pledis Ent. as a performance leader and choreographed their dances.
You were happy for him, of course. You just wished you could have been there in the start. But you couldn't. You weren't there to witness his debut, attend a concert, or even give a listen to the music he was putting out.
Eventually, the life of an idol is hardly never not busy, meaning that Soonyoung had to leave about an two hours later, but of course he didn't leave without having some sort of way of contacting you. He wasn't going to leave his sister alone once again.
You hugged him goodbye, and though it won't be the last time you'll see him, you couldn't stand not tearing up.
Joshua approached you as you watched him walk away. You then pulled Joshua into a hug, as a thank you for his actions. He was taken aback from the unexpected embrace, but didn't take long for him to find comfort in it.
"I told you to trust me, didn't I?" He teased, as he hugged you.
You scoffed and playfully pushed him, breaking the hold. "Pfft. I wasn't scared or anything, I was worried for your safety, lots of weirdos in the world."
Joshua shook his head at laughed at your child-like mannerisms. And you too couldn't help but smile at his adorable laugh. For the first time, you had noticed what a beautiful smile Joshua had. Maybe it was the way the sun was hitting him, but at that moment he looked like an angel, from head to toe, he looked gorgeous.
"Do you want me to walk you home?" Joshua offered seeing as the two of you were now just standing around.
You looked up at him, and made direct eye contact with his onyx eyes and gave him a smile, "Yeah, I'd love that.."
He offered you his hand, and began leading out of the park. Telling you stories from his childhood back in LA, and how his family moved here due to his parent's work reasons when he was around the age of twelve.
The walk home was less than 15 minutes away from the park, but it took an hour and a half for the two of you to arrive at your house, prior to making a few stops ever now and then.
Joshua was the best friend you never had. Never had he once degraded you, but instead did what he could to help boost your self esteem, even before he knew you. He never said or did anything out of line, and always spoke with a soft tone of voice.
He was an actual angel.
Joshua would always make sure you hadn't let his sight, and held your hand. And whenever they passed by something sketchy he would pull you closer to him. Even he himself didn't know why he had the need to protect you, he's still figuring it out.
The two of you were still getting to know each other more, but Joshua always managed to dodge a bullet whenever you had asked him about his family, but you didn't question. Maybe he too may have some bad blood with his family, so you weren't going to force him into telling you.
"Hey (Y/n)?" Joshua called out to you.
You looked at him, and he licked his lips with an unsure look on his face, almost as if he was unsure whether to say what he wanted to say. And your curiosity kept on growing more and more the more you waited.
"Does he treat you well? Taehyung?"
Out of all questions this was unexpected, you wondered why he would even wonder such a thing. And at the same time, you didn't know how to answer it. You loved him, and he treated you well, but he'd only make a few comments about your weight.
"He treats me well, yes." You replied, and Joshua just answered with a nod.
The two of you stopped walking for a moment, and Joshua stared off into the distance, you followed his gaze and see that he was looking at two girls. His lips were parted and he turned quickly and held your hand, turning the two of you in the opposite direction. His pacing increasing even more, and you could see the same girls following.
Joshua pulled you closer to him, as if he was shielding you from something.
"(Y/n), I'm going to need your help. I need you to help hide me." He pleaded.
You couldn't refuse or ignore his pleads, especially with the look in his eyes that he had given you. It was his turn to trust you. You grabbed his hand and led him into an alley.
"I don't know why we're hiding, but hopefully this'll work out the way you want it to." Joshua peeked out and the girls were approaching, and he couldn't tell whether he was seen or not.
"I know this'll sound strange, but please sit on my lap. I swear I'll explain this all to you later, just for my sake." It was an odd request, but you still followed along. Joshua moved your head in front of his and tilted it, making it cover his face. The girls soon made it to the alley, but in their eyes you two looked like a hormonal couple.
They didn't even bother disturbing you two, and once they walked away, you got off of Joshua. Probably squishing him the entire time.
The two of you sighed, and you looked up when you felt Joshua's gaze on you.
"I think it's time I tell you the truth.."
