Jakes point of view

The challenge arena was a flat grassy plateau with 16 giant stones surronding it in a circle. Everyone was in running position. Ready to sprint towards the 15 topaz stones. We each were given our weapon of choice. I chose a slim light sword.

There was piles of slippery goo and quicksand. The entire course was covered in obstacles like walls, fences, thorn bushes and every other thing to slow you down. I navigated the mazes in my head. "3 2 1, GO!"

I raced as fast as I could to the topazes. I could see a blonde girl coming at me. She had two twin samurai blades. She charged full speed right at me. She swung her sword at my head. I ducked and countered but her other sword was ready and parried my blade. I felt a dizzying pain. My head went completely numb and I collapsed at her mercy. There was a giant cut in my stomach. I awaited the final blow but it never comes. I look up and see Sarah standing over the girls now dead body. A cannon goes off. She stretches her arm out and helps me up. There is nothing to heal my stomach but tightening my shirt around the cut.

Sarahs point of view

Saving Jake was the easy part but getting through the mazes and obstacles wasn't and it's was hard to focus with Jakes rippling abs. I pushed the thought aside and help Jake find the right direction. Without even a clue we head forward careful to avoid the holes. Jake though is not as careful and kind of klutzy and slips right into the mud pit. We laugh and I help him up. The course is pretty short so we shouldn't be that far as long as we can get past this stupid hedge maze. Left, right, forward, right, dead end. That has been basically happening every time. Ugh we will never get out of here. We couldn't climb over the hedges they were to tall and had thorns and poison ivy covering them. We couldn't find were we entered th maze, either. So that left us with one option....digging.

"Go." Right as I hear that word I sprint as fast as I can with a trident in my hand. I jump over the small walls and am making great time. Here and there I slip, but other than that it was okay.

When I feel I have put enough distance between me and the other contestants I look over my shoulder and gladly see. The last career being attacked by two African Americans. One girl and one boy. The boy lands a dagger in the careers shoulder and then slashes her thigh. She screams in pain then takes her whip and smacks his back. He screams and runs. I am confused why he screamed so much until I see that the whip has super sharp blades on it. Now it is one on one and I know who will win. I don't want to watch but I find that my eyes keep drifting back to the fight. The non-career is armed with all sort of knives while the career as her whip and a dagger.

The non-career leaps at the other girl hoping to catch her by surprise. She does and she makes a two inch deep cut in the careers thigh. The career cries out in pain and lunges at the other girl. The career whips the other girls leg sending her flailing onto the ground.

The career goes in for the final attack. I watch as the whip tightens around the other girl's neck, the blades digging into her skin. She has tears streaming down from her eyes and tries to speak but her own cannon interrupts her. Her body fall completely limp.

I turn and run horrified I also don't want to attract the attention of the career. I run around a maze through an entire bush of thorns. They sting my skin but the reward is worth the pain. When I get through the thorn bush I see the Topazes gleaming in the sunlight. I race over and quickly grab the biggest one I can find. I hear the familiar whooshing sound and I soon stand in Paradise.

Sarah's point of view

I dig, my hands scrape the dry, crumbly dirt. Each scoop makes my hand ache but I keep going meanwhile Jake uses his sword to lossen the soil before digging in his hands. My hand hits something. At first I think it is just a rock. Like it is usually but when I start to uncover it I realize it is much to big to be a rock. 4 minutes later me and Jake have fully uncovered a random shovel in the ground. Our luck is great because it is not broken and looks fairly new.
