Chapter 14: Capture the flag

Sorry it took so long I write it then it got deleted.

Sarah's point of view

The next challenge is a round of capture with two team captains but since there are 9 contestants the leading contestant gets a bye. "And the winner is......Sarah F." I won I actually won. Wow! I thought I was in third or something like that. I run over and hug Rhiannon and before I know it the contestants are gone. They are getting weapons and preparing.

Max's point of view

Since I got second I get to be team captain. I get to pick first before the girl who got third does. "I choose Jake." Then it was the girl named Cheyenne's turn to pick. She chooses then I do then her until everyone has been picked. I end up with Rhiannon, Jake, a boy named Luca, and me.

We are taken to our sides in a giant corn field where you can't see over the stalks. We hide ours in the back corner of the field inside a stalk so it blends in. The rules our simple get the other teams flag and bring it back to your side.

I being the team leader organize the plans. We keep Rhiannon and Jake on defence hiding behind stalks near our flag. While they defend me and Luca head to go find there flag. We line up on our line ready to sprint towards the other teams side. "Ready, Set, GOOO!!" We dash off going right past Cheyenne who as far as I can tell is the only attacker for her team.

I carried only throwing knives and two daggers. Luca carries almost identical weapons. We slash through stalks wondering around. We search corners and pathways that lead to nothing. We go to the left corner and our about to turn around when we hear the soft footsteps of another contestant. I hurriedly cut away stalks revealing the largest contestant left. He is armed with a mace and with an easy flick of his wrist he swing the mace right at my head. I easily duck and jump away. I lead a mount attack and charge at him. Luca flanks his right while I flank his left. Again he leaps but this time only at Luca. Flicking my wrist I send a throwing knife at him. It lodges in his shoulder and blood pours out. Before he can even wince I send another knife right in his ribs. He rips then out throwing them on the ground and flees into the giant corn stalks.

As if he wants us to follow he pauses to make sure were behind him before running again. We never lose sight of him even as he weaves and ducks through plants. Though that is only one of our lucky breaks. The second comes when I get into throwing range of him. I whip out I knife and attempt to be balanced while running. I aim at my target and fire. The knife drops and and barely catches the boys calf. He keeps on running unfazed by the knife. Luca continues on with the chase as I unbury my knife from behind the stalks. I quickly scoop it up and sprint full speed after Luca who is sprinting after the boy.

I reach a clearing on the very edge of the corn field where Luca and the boy named Loric are facing each other neither moving. I reach for my daggers clutching them tightly. As if on cue Loric drops is mace and sprints into cover. Then it dawns on me we have been played. The boy wanted us to follow and led us as far away from the flag as possible.
