I lost track of how many years it has been the minute I stepped into the safe-zone of Alexandria.  I have done my best to try and block out previous events, because like many others, I've been through hell and back to survive.  I've been between groups and roaming on my own since the beginning.  I haven't seen my family since before this started as I am, or I should say was, completing my master's out of state, in Maryland.

I've dreamt of being a marine biologist since the first time I went to the zoo when I was just four years old.  My parent's took my brother, Dawson, and I to the zoo multiple times a year for something to do.  I always had a passion, but the changed the minute I killed my first walker, running out of the city of Baltimore, to try and get home to Georgia.  I don't think I ever made it there, as I'm not a tracker and I have no idea how long I've walked in these years.

Roaming between groups changed one day, when I saw a dim light in the distance of the trees.  I was hiding near a stream, under a bridge, when night fell and a light turned on.  I followed until I reached a large gated area.  The doors opened for me and I was approached by a woman named Deana.  She asked if I was alone and how long I have been out in the apocalyptic world by myself.  Quickly, I was welcomed to the community and I finally had a concept of time again, and the feeling of safety and comfort.

It has been almost a year since I have been living in Alexandria.  I've made friends and I frequently help out with the older residents, feeding them, cleaning, and hearing their stories from the past.  I really felt at peace here, sometimes forgetting about what is going on outside of the walls.  I haven't been out there in months, as Deanna says she needs protection inside the walls as well, which is where I come in, in case of any misdemeanors between the residents or walkers.  That hasn't happened yet, and I'm glad.  My future is Alexandria.
