Maddox's POV

Welp, Octavia fell asleep on the way home which means I have to carry her inside.

The drive to the house was usually shorter than this. I guess it's because her and I aren't talking our lives away while on the way.

I swear being with her is like a dream that I'd never want to wake up from. I can laugh with her, talk, sing, dance, and simply just be.

You're doing it again. Marcus chimes in my head.

Doing what? I asked.

Being gushy. It's gross. He groaned sending me a wolfy grin.

Ahh shut up. You can't talk, you were the one being all lovey dovey with Avi. I chuckled at him.

Well, it's acceptable for me, I'm in your head. You are the representative, you ass. He said.

Yeah, yeah whatever. I'll let you talk to her again soon bud. I said.

Yayy- I mean, yeah sure. Marcus cut the connection once he heard my booming laugh.

Pulling up in the garage, I turned the truck off and gathered Avi in my arms. I carried her upstairs and laid her on the bed. Her hair was already braided down but I grabbed her durag and tied it around her hair for her. I took her pants and shirt off before grabbing one of my hoodies and dressing her in it.

After all was done I just stood back and simply watched her. Even when she's sleeping with her mouth wide open while snoring she's still beautiful. She isn't like those women you see in the movies or like the women I've been with. They were all worried about how people perceived them but Avi isn't. She could give a shit about what people think of her. She's real and I love that about her.

I'm already crazy about her to the point where I'd beat the hell out of a mosquito for biting her. She's my babygirl, my queen. I promise to keep her safe no matter what it takes.

Okay, weirdo get dressed for bed I'm tired.

If I could, I'd beat Marcus's ass.

No you won't.

Huffing at him I turned and headed for my room to shower and change.

I turned on the light to see better before walking in.

On my bed there was an envelope, a black one at that.

I always keep my room secured and I make sure all my stuff is in place... so who the fuck was in my room and why?

Picking up the envelope I flipped it over to see if there was a name and sure enough it was.

From Blake. Was written in an elegant yet aggressive manner.

I tore open the envelope and reached in and pulled out a folded piece of paper. Photos.

Photos fell out of the paper onto the bed and gave a clear view of Avi and I. My blood ran cold, palms started to sweat, my head bang to dance as I found myself falling onto the bed next to the pictures.

There were pictures from my stay at the hotel, at Avi's house, at her daycare job that she used to have, hell there were some from the restaurant.

Who the hell took these and how did they know where I was?

I put the photos down and picked up the paper.

Maddox,

I see you have received my gift. After learning that Veronica got away and decided to snitch I began to work a little more aggressively. Whatever plan she told you all is no longer in the works. I have watch dogs everywhere on the move. You better be careful and watch out for the mate of yours. Speaking of which, she is a beauty. That body is something I'd really love to have to myself. You better keep her under wraps or I will have her under me, fucking her in ways even I would never think of. Tell anyone that you have received this letter, and I will take her. Until then, stay tuned for the next letters. The games have started.

Sincerely, Blake.

That motherfucker! Messing with me is okay but not my fucking mate! Not my Avi!

"No. No, no, no, no, no. Fuck, not her!" My lips started to tremble along with my hands. My body began to sweat yet I felt cold. I was having an anxiety attack. I've had many before bu not like this. No, this was different.

Someone I hold so close to my heart is in danger because of something probably petty. I found my body dropping to the ground due to my loss of balance. I can feel my blood running cold and my vision dancing around the room. I can't even tell James because Blake has people everywhere. My Avi, my beautiful Avi, might be taken away from me.

The thought alone has my chest clenching and my mind wandering into a dark place. And knowing Blake, he'd do ungodly things to her innocent self and i cannot have that.

Feeling my body begin to warm with rage I found my bearings and marched out of my room. I need to get out of here. James has a safe house for the elderly, women children, and men. Then there's the other safe-house. This safe house if located farther from the pack houses in case we have a new shifter, a female in heat, or in my case, a mad ass wolf.

Right now, I am mad as hell. Throwing the doors open on the balcony I shredded my clothes as I shifted into my wolf, Marcus. I felt our paws hit the ground and let Marcus lead the way due to the fact that I was here a couple times before.

We made it in roughly 10 minutes. Barging in I began to feel a tug into the corner of my mind. Marcus wanted full control.

Take over. I said.

With pleasure.

Octavia's POV

"Hey did you see Maddox this morning?" I asked Genesis.

"No, I thought you guys went out last night." She said while picking her breakfast.

I've been looking for this man in places I've never been and still haven't seen him.

"Well we did. I woke up in my bed but he usually comes back to sleep together." I said out of concern. It's weird that he didn't say anything to me or leave a note by my bed about his whereabouts.

I'm starting to worry a lot more now.

"I'll give you a heads up if I see him, hon. I'm going to go help James with some pack stuff and let him know." She said holding both of their plates.

She kissed my cheek and gave a reassuring smile before walking away.

I guess I'll ask Trent on the training field.

Walking outside I saw men and women training on the fields. Trent was standing on the little stage they have situated outside for observation.

"Hey Trent." I said to get his attention. Immediately his stoic face turned into a warm smile. He gave me a brotherly hug.

"Hey sis. What are you doing here?" He asked curiously.

"Well, I came here to ask if you've seen Maddox anywhere. He didn't come to bed last night." I said.

Trent's face contorted into disgust and horror at what I said.

All I said was he didn't come to be- oh!

"Wait, wait no. Not like that come to bed I meant he didn't come to the room at all last night... nasty ass." I laughed at him as his face sobered up.

"Okay, now that helps because... ew. And n- actually never mind. He's walking this way." Trent pointed to an area behind me that had me turning fast.

There he was... with nothing but a blanket covering him waist down. We locked eyes and my concern and worry disappeared... now I was mad. I didn't have Maddox in bed with me nor did I see him when I woke up.

Maddox sent me a sheepish smile but there was nothing amusing about what he was in for as soon as we get upstairs.
