I stopped and looked at the front porch as I sighed. I'm finally back home.
As I enter the house, I see Y/n in the living room sitting on the couch. She was doing something in her laptop as she wore her headphones in.
You see, I was supposed to be home yesterday for Y/n's birthday but my flight got delayed. She doesn't know that I was coming home today.
I sneek around behind Y/n's back as I made my way over her. I put my arms around her from behind as hugged her.
"Belated happy birthday, my love," I said, burying my face into her hair. "I'm sorry I couldn't be here yesterday."
She sighed as she turned to face me.
She put her arms around my waist as she rested her head on my chest.
"It's okay. I understand," She sighed. "Though it wasn't the same without you..."
"I'm sorry, love," I apologized again. "Don't worry, I'll make it up to you."
I really felt bad. This was the first time I ever missed Y/n's birthday.
"You don't have to, y'know," Y/n smiled. "You being here is enough."
"Aww, love," I smiled as I pulled her close, kissing the top of her head. "If you're worrying about me spoiling you.. Don't worry, I'll just do something simple."
"Okay," Y/n said as she yawned.
"Want to take a nap first, love?" I asked, sweetly as she nodded.
I put one arm under her knees and the other one on her back. I carried her upstairs and to our bedroom as I laid her down. I put the cover her with our blanket. I kissed her forehead as she smiled. After that, I could hear light snores coming from her as I shook my head in amusement, smiling.
I went back down stairs as I made my way to the living room again.
What kind of surprise should I give to Y/n?
Y/n likes simple but beautiful things....... like her. One of the many things that made me fall in love with her.
I looked around the living room as an idea popped to my head.
"I got it!!" I said, then shushing myself cause I remembered that Y/n was sleeping upstairs.
I smiled to myself as I got to working, enthusiastically.
After a few hours......
I went upstairs to wake Y/n up. I walked over to her side of the bad as I saw her peacefully sleeping.
Damn, she's like Cinderella... or was it Sleeping beauty? Nah, pretty sure it was Cinderella.
I shook Y/n a little as she moved a little.
"Y/n, love, it's time to wake up," I said.
She laid on her back as she rubbed her eyes.
"Huh? Wha-?" She asked as she looked at me.
"It's time to wake up," I chuckled. "The surprise is ready."
"Please don't tell me you wasted a lot of money on this," She sighed.
"Nah. I did spend a little, but it wasn't that much," I shrugged like a little child. "I just needed to buy some Christmas lights."
"Why would you need Christmas lights?" She asked as she sat up, tilting her head to the side in confusion.
"You'll know it when you see it," I smiled cheekily as she groaned playfully.
We made our way downstairs and to the living room as I saw Y/n's widen. I built a blanket fort in the living room as I bought Christmas lights to light it up.

"Is it okay?" I asked.
"Okay?! Shawn, this is amazing!" She gasped as hugged me tightly.
I smiled, lovingly at her.
We made our way inside. I got out my laptop as I let her pick the movie. Once the movie started, I looked at her and said.
"Belated happy birthday, my love," I whispered, smiling.
