Ashton was surprised to see Luke laying on the opposite side of his bed with one arm behind his head and the other on his television. He couldn't help but stare for a moment at the blond, wondering if he was a figment of his affection starved imagination or really there beside him. He almost went as far as to pinch himself. Key word being almost."You're staring at me." He said and Ashton sat up as he watched him turn the television off. "Good morning, rockstar."
"Mornin'... college drop out." The drummer mumbled and then looked down at his duvet as he closed his eyes again.
Luke chuckled. "You aren't a very affectionate person, are you?" He asked and Ashton shrugged his shoulders loosely.
"I don't know." He didn't quite speak, more so he hummed the words as he felt Luke's fingers tangle into his curls.
"Do you want breakfast? I can cook." Luke offered and Ashton hesitated. "I make a mean tomato and spinach omelette."
"I have enough mean in my life." Ashton replied as he rolled on to his back and put an arm on his forehead.
Luke scoffed quietly. "Okay, negative Nancy."
Ashton looked at him and the younger blond stared back with a challenging look in his haze. He had a red hot fire inside of those ocean eyes, and he couldn't help but want to grasp that flame in his hand. He can't tell if he wants to put it out and leave him vulnerable for him or if he wants to burn himself to make him feel alive again. God, he thinks he's almost obsessed with the kid and his confidence.
"Is that how you treat all the guys you hang on to?" Luke continued and Ashton narrowed his eyes at him. "I'm not a dog. I'll leave if I'm not wanted, and I won't come when you decide to call."
Ashton likes that. He likes a challenge and he likes a man who knows his worth. And he's also hungry.
"Add cheese to my omelette. Cupboard left of the sink has dishes, right has seasonings and food." Ashton told him and Luke grinned. "Three eggs."
"We can talk over breakfast then." He decided and Ashton sat up.
"About what?" He asked as Luke pushed the comforter off of him and then opened the bedside nightstand. "Those are my boxers."
"I'm not cooking naked and there's a giant hole in the ones I wore here." Luke told him. "Courtesy of your impatience and very obvious domination kink."
He was torn between liking his 'I do what I want and say what I want' attitude and wanting to tell him not to touch his things or talk to him like that. He doesn't know if he does it on purpose or if it's just who he is, but it does something to him.
"I have sweats in the closet. Fourth drawer down on the left side." Ashton verbally guided him as he disappeared into the small walk in room. "T-shirts are on the other side."
"Great. How many other guys wore your clothes before?" He asked and Ashton rolled his eyes.
"A lot. Is that what you want to hear?" He pressed. "Should I tell you about the girls?"
Luke walked out and he almost couldn't breathe because the sleeves of the shirt were straining against his biceps and the fabric was stretched to accommodate his large frame. Though it hugged his stomach just fine, those fucking shoulders of his would be the death of him.
"No, I don't care." Luke chucked. "I'm the best you've had."
Ashton was getting tired of his cockiness. A little at a time was hot. At this point he just sounded full of himself. "What makes you say that?"
"I'd never tell anyone anything about what we do." He raised a finger to his lips and the older blond's eyes followed him as he walked to the door. "I don't care about online presence. Just you."
"Why? Because of what you heard online?" Ashton rose an eyebrow.
"You always ask that and the answer will always be yes and no. Social media is great for picking up rumors, but meeting you was what really set me off. You're so much more ravishing in person." Luke winked. "And dark."
Ashton stifled an amused laugh. "Dark? How so?" He inquired.
"I took psychology for a year or so before I dropped out. I studied emotional patterns and body language. Now I'm not a shrink, but you are hurting inside and I can see it. I can feel it." He told him and Ashton's smile fell. "You have secrets you want to keep because... because whatever reason. You're a walking mystery. A puzzle. An intricate one at that."
"So what? You want to piece me together? Open me up? Find out why I'm so fucked up?" Ashton asked. "Like every other person who tried, you won't. You can't."
"Maybe you're right." Luke nodded. "Or maybe you just want to think that to protect yourself so no one can use it against you."
"Maybe you should stop assuming things because you sat in a lecture for an hour every day." Ashton suggested as he pushes the blanket off of him. "I'm gonna get dressed. Close the door when you leave."
"Coffee?" Luke asked and Ashton rubbed his forehead. "I'll put some extra sugar in it just for you, suga'."
"Black, thanks." Ashton looked up at him and he pouted.
"You're no fun."
He left and Ashton could hear the door close behind him. He can't believe he let a college drop out just stand there and accuse him of being in emotional distress. He was, but he's mad at himself for being so obvious about it. And he's irritated Luke knew and wants to figure out why he is the way he is.
It's a battle he won't win. He can feel it in his veins that Luke was starting to hold some sort of monopoly in his head. He's already so addicted to him. At the rate they're going, he won't be surprised if the next few days he slowly starts unraveling himself for the man. He should have been smarter about getting involved with him. He's fucked.
