*Liza's POV*
I wake up to the sound of my alarm. It's 6am. I let out a loud groan as I hit my clock repeatedly trying to find the button that makes the awful noise stop.
I finally manage to turn off my alarm. I roll over and bury my face in my pillow, taking in its soft comfort. I tend to have trouble falling asleep most nights but its miraculous how comfortable my bed becomes the second that it's time to get up.
I lay there for a few more seconds before I drag myself up. Today is my first day of college. I sit on the edge of my bed questioning whether I really even want to do this, I don't even know what I want to study. I contemplate the idea of just not going but then I remember that I already paid for the first semester so I don't have much choice, might as well give it a try for a few months.
Some people might be excited about their first day of college, but honestly I'm kind of dreading it. You see, I moved to LA from Houston, Texas with my family a little over 4 years ago, just in time to start school at LA High. I did my 4 years there, dealt with the usual high school drama, and counted the days until the final bell rang. Graduation was this past spring, meaning that some students went off to a University, but those of us who didn't know what we wanted to do went on to LA Community College (or LACC) to work on our gen-ed courses until we figured out our next step.
I let out another groan and rolled my eye as I thought about the fact that I would have to see a bunch of the annoying people from high school that I was hoping to never see again. I guess you could say that today was my first day of high school 2.0.
I finally manage to pull myself all the way up and start getting ready. I try to look decent but I also don't plan to go all out. Cute yet comfortable, that's the goal. Once I'm dressed I grab my bookbag that I packed last night and head downstairs. As I open my bedroom door I am hit with a wonderful smell of warm pancakes and crispy bacon. My delighted smile quickly turns to confusion when I remember that my parents were away on vacation together for the week. This leaves me wondering - who is in my house?
I cautiously walk downstairs and peak around the corner into the kitchen to see none other than my wonderful boyfriend, David, making breakfast.
I guess I should mention that I am currently 18 and David is 23. We met when I moved to LA. He had just moved from Chicago around the same time and we ended up being next door neighbors. We clicked instantly and my family loves him but we didn't officially start dating until the day I turned 18, for obvious reasons.
I roll my eyes and giggle quietly to myself before walking into the kitchen. David looks up and a smile quickly spreads across his face. I walk up behind him and snake my arms around his waist, resting my head against his back.
"You know, I almost called the cops but I didn't know how they would react to me saying that someone broke into my house and started making breakfast" I said jokingly.
"Good morning to you too" he says with a chuckle. "And technically I didn't break in, I have a key, remember? So what, I can't come over and surprise my beautiful girlfriend with breakfast on her first day of College?" David replies while taking the last piece of bacon off of the griddle.
I roll my eyes again. "You mean high school 2.0" I correct him, letting my arms fall from his waist.
"Oh come on Liza, it won't be that bad, just give it a chance" he says while turning around and pulling me into a hug. He leans down and presses a gentle kiss on my lips before pulling away. "Breakfast is ready!" He adds with a cheerful grin.
How did I ever get so lucky.

A/N: Hi there!! So this is my very first Diza story ever and I have to admit, I'm a tad nervous! I have been tossing this idea around for a while now so let's see if I can get it sound as good as it does in my head. Please feel free to leave comments and/or ideas throughout the story! Thank you in advance!
Also, just to clarify, I decided to use LA High School and LA Community College solely because this story is set in the LA area. This is in no way shape or form related to or based on any real life schools in that area, it's just a name for the sake of the story.
