"Who is going to get me some breakfast?" a familiar voice screamed down the corridor, making Lucas turn in bed

Veronica was upset that her breakfast had not been served within 5 minutes of getting up, and she wasn't having any of the 'Vasheronne is missing' excuses.

"DORA! WHERE ON EARTH IS DORA?!"

Dora rolled her eyes, wiping Nina's tears away. She knew that Vasheronne's disappearance was upsetting her. She knew one other person who was more upset than her sweet helper.

Lucas Baron.

He had come down for breakfast looking for her while wearing a huge smile on his face only for him to find cops asking questions. Charlotte being dead hurt him.

Vasheronne going missing killed him.

"Why on earth is everyone talking about Vasheronne? It is sad she died, but there is one thing sadder than that."

"What, Veronica? I assume you mean Charlotte being dead is sadder."

"Well, not exactly..." she began, before throwing her brother a look and realising he was glaring at her. "Of course i am sad! Charlotte was my best friend! She was going to be my sister!"

"Thank you Veronica. You are very kind."

"I know, i think it's all the gloom hanging in the air. It's making me feel different."

Luke eyed her before giving her a smile. "Ronnie, i am glad you cared enough to sit with me here. What was that thing you told me about sad people? That their auras killed everything?"

"Yup."

"I am glad mine has not killed you," Luke said, drawing her into him for a hug. She hugged him back and cuddled into his side.

"Luke, can i talk to you?" Sir Baron asked his oldest son to go over to him. Luke hugged his sister and walked away. She sighed.

"The sadder thing is having no one to wait on me."

"Nina, put some work into what you are doing!" Veronica yelled. She smiled as she thought of seeing Lord Payne again. She liked him a lot though, of course, Thomas was always trying to get her to fall for him.

So far, Vasheronne still hadn't been found. Truth be told, Veronica missed her a little bit. She was a stubborn minion. She couldn't help thinking back to the time she yelled that she was going to kill Vasheronne for killing Charlotte.

"Could you at least get me something to drink?"

Nina rolled her eyes and started to leave. Veronica, unfortunately, saw it.

"The eye roll? Did you just roll your eyes at me?"

Nina looked down and bit her tonguecto stop herself from crying as Veronica's hand hurt her. The pain from that deathly squeeze was too much for her to take. She started to whimper.

"Look at me! You will never be more than a slave! You had better learn your place here because this is NOT a halfway house for girls like you. You and Vasheronne like to get on my nerves. I can have the both of you sent to the farm instead!"

Nina yanked her arm away and ran off, leaving her new mistress smirking. Now, she felt better. So much better.

Sir Baron had a wake organized in memory of his son's fiancee. He knew that he loved her, and it felt fitting to do so.

Inspector Hunt had talked briefly to him, informing him that he had a new lead in the case, and telling him that he'd drop by on the next day.

As Veronica walked into the hall, she could see Liam Payne talking to a few affluent men twice his age. She smiled at him when she caught his eye. Just then, Nina walked past and she shot him a smile he returned. Veronica's smike died as she watched the two maintain eye contact before Nina started up the staircase.

Walking down the stairs, she knocked into Nina. The drinks went down to her beautiful new frock. She screamed, catching everybody's attention.

"What is wrong with you? Can't you do anything right? Now, put that down and come with me!" she called, dragging Nina forcefully, making the pretty slave wince.

Liam sighed and looked down to his shoes, before looking back up just as Nina's eyes met his.
