Dedicated to @b_the_book, thanks for being there for me always.
Ash
I stare at Finnick as he walks back to his district partner. She shakes her head. They appear to be arguing.
I feel bad about rejecting Finnick, but if I want to get back home, I can't afford to make friends in the arena. Which leads me back to Albus and Rayel. I want their help, but I don't want Finnick. It confuses me. Why do I want them but not Finnick? Maybe because Finnick is a much stronger opponent. Then again, teaming with Finnick would have made me more assured that I don't have another enemy. Still, it would be just as easy for him to stab me while everyone is sleeping, and make it seem like he doesn't know who did it. Or run away after. But Rayel or Albus could do the same thing. I'm really confused now.
I start heading back to Rayel and Albus.
"What'd he want?" Albus asked at once.
I'm still trapped in my own thoughts. "Hm? Oh, the usual ... allies."
"He wants to be allies? Please tell me you didn't say yes," Rayel scowls.
I come out of the trance. "Oh, please, give me some credit, of course I didn't say yes!" I roll my eyes. "But Finnick's nice; it's only the fact that he's a Career that makes you not like him! And besides, his dad was in on the rebellion when District Thirteen overthrew the Capital!"
"In which victory only lasted a few years," Rayel counters.
"Finnick does seem a lot nicer than the other Careers," Albus interjects. "Like One and two and his counterpart."
"Rayel, if you don't want to be allies, we're not forcing you to! Just say it so we can hear you!" I say, shocked. He seemed so nice before!
"Maybe I don't!" Rayel says sulkily. "But I will for reasons I don't understand."
"Thank you!"
Albus looks less pleased. "Well, tell us if you change your mind," he says.
Rayel glares at him, then turns and walks away fast.
A/N-Hi, this chapter was just a fill-in for after Ash is asked to become allies with Finnick. Next, I'll be doing Finnick's point of view starting from after he walked away.
Lots of love, Jeesicay
