20. Losing

Peter Parker's PoV

Soon enough all the aliens were out. It was only Noka left.

"We won" Tony said. "You cheated but we won. Now surrender or this will end bad for you too"

"You might have won this battle but I am going to win this war" Noka said.

"Really?" Loki said. "You know you can't win it if you're dead"

"You all have such confident. It's amusing" Noka said. "Especially when someone you and the Spiderkid love is on an edge"

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"She's on an edge to death" Noka said and laughed before he disappeared.

"What is he talking about?!" I asked nervous.

"Someone is in trouble" Thor said.

"And that someone is Melody" Loki realised.

Loki quickly took the tesseract and teleported everyone to earth. We arrived in the middle of New York City.

"Melody!" I called in my speaker. "Do you hear me?"

"Have anyone seen Lady Melody?" Thor asked.

"Last time I saw her she was in the city's middle fighting" Falcon said. "But since that nothing"

"Melody!" I called out for her. "If you hear us please answer!"

"I can ask Shuri to track her" T'Challa said.

Meaning I swung around and looked for any clue of where she could be when I suddenly saw smoke in the middle of the forest.

I swung over there as fast as I could and saw ruins from an old building. I looked around and went towards the smoke when I saw her.

She was against the wall with a sword through her body. I quickly took off my mask as tears were rolling down my cheek.

"Melody?" I said with shaking voice.

I took out the sword and threw is away as I took her in my arms.

"Melody!" I cried as realised it was too late. She was long gone.

I heard they other Avengers arriving behind me as I sat there with her body. I looked up and only made eye contact with one person. Loki. Cause I knew that he cared for her. I could see it in his eyes

Then I saw how Noka appeared some meters from me in my eye corner. The Avengers first instinct was to protect me and my identity as they all stood in a half circle and covered me.

"Kid if you want to protect your identity you better put the mask on" Tony said. "That was fast. Good job"

I hadn't moved so I were confused. But when I looked at Loki I understood. It was one of his illusions. But for safety I took on the mask anyway.

"You did this" Loki said to Noka. "You caused all this. And you're gonna die for that"

I saw how Loki took out his knives and he started to attack him. I didn't join the battle. I felt weak. But I didn't sat there for to long because suddenly Zoe appeared.

"Why crying over her spider-boy? She wasn't worth anything anyway" Zoe laughed as I could see that she was holding Melody's bracelet.

I laid Melody down gently before I stood up facing Zoe. As memories of Melody came back to me I took a deep breath and said four words.

"Karen Activate Instinct Kill"
