Lizzy's Pov

The carriage ride was slow which I would usually despise, but with Phillip it was more enjoyable. It always was. I must of been busy fiddling with a section of my dress because Phillip grabbed my hand and weaved his fingers in between mine.

"It's crazy how fast it has all been." He says out of the blue as we watched the changing trees with sprinkles of colour past by. "To think that they met when we were in Montreal."

Wow, I'd almost forgotten about that. Like I knew they met, I had just forgotten the reason that we were in Montreal. Because Phillip had caught scarlet fever and W.D and Anne decided to come visit us.

"I believe the reason we were in Montreal was because you got sick and I had to come rescue you," I say light-heartedly, pretending to flick some hair over my shoulder.

"Yes, my brave saviour. My Lizzy."

He kissed my forehead before I decided I was going to use him as I pillow. I closed my eyes, leaving my hand linked in his. Apparently, I fell asleep because by the time we arrived at the circus, Phillip was nudging my shoulder to get up.

"Liz," He whispered. I heard but I kept my eye closed. "Liz?" He questioned and I finally decide to open my eyes and I was met with his blue ones. I'd never noticed that he had tiny flecks of green on the outskirts of his Iris. But now that I had, I don't think I would ever forget.

He held his hand out to help me up, quickly fixing a fallen strand of hair from my bun, before picking me up and spinning me out of the carriage. Everyone was still waiting outside, I had made it very clear that nobody, NOBODY, was to go into the circus tent as of Yesterday as I wanted to set up before anyone was allowed in. All I had left to do were a few minor decorations, like flower vases and a couple of things for the isle. Cassie was waiting with Lettie and Anne, holding a bunch of sticks. But they weren't sticks, they were the main item of this wedding. Cassie made paper butterflies and attached them to around a tea light that was suspended from the branch.

Everyone was here to help me finalize these kinds of things before W.D or Ailsa showed up. Everyone dressed in their fine gowns and suits. It was really quiet different from seeing everyone in their circus attire.

Once everyone saw that Phillip and I had arrived they all gathered up behind us so I could explain who needed to do what. I quickly ran through the list; Anne was with Cassie, Phillip and I to finish the isle, Lettie and Charles were doing the flower arrangements, Cora, Charity and Barnum were going to finalise the food, drinks and ensure the photographer was there to get a picture of the two. And Helen and Caroline wanted to practise their dance for the couple.

I pulled open the flap and walked inside, everyone following closely behind, whispering words of excitement.

No, no, no, no.
Words got shorter and quiet got longer.

The place was trashed. Truly ruined. All the decorations that I had made were on the floor in shreds, the tables were turned upside down or missing a leg. The archway had been demolished into what seemed to be firewood now.

I felt Phillip's hand wrap tighter around mine as we looked at it all, the silence dominating the room.

It was ruined all of it.
