New Beginnings

Vacation

I wake up one day, a few days after everything kind if went splat with my apparent sister.

"Hey, Derek. What do you think about taking a vacation somewhere?" I said, probably to a sleeping Derek.

"I like the sound of that. " I look over at a clearly awake Derek.

"How long have you been up?". I ask.

A while. I went to the hospital and told the Chief that we'd both be out for a week. He said that's fine. " Derek told me.

"Richard said that? Well, I suppose that two brains think alike. "I say as a smile spreads across my still sleep filled face.

*ON PLANE GOING TO SECRET DESTINATION.

DEREKS PERSPECTIVE*

It was so hard to tell Mer where we were going for two weeks. I told her one week, but Richard said that we could take two, which was nice of him.

"Hey, Mer. Want to know where we're going?". I ask.

"LA? Are we going to Seaside Wellness to visit Addison and Sam and Naomi?". She asks.

"Nope. Just a bit further west. " I say, giving a slight clue.

"There's nothing past- Wait, Derek. We're going to Hawai'i?!" She says with excitement, and twisting in her seat to face me instead of snapping pictures out of the window, no doubt for Instagram or Facebook.

"Well, there's bit much past California unless you want to go to Asia. So, it's Hawai'i."

*MEREDITH'S PERSPECTIVE*

When Derek said to pack lots of bathing suits for a vacation, he seriously wasn't kidding. My eyes mush have been gleaning with excitement.

"Wait, Derek. What he heck did you do with the kids?". I ask worriedly.

"Don't worry, Cristina and Owen have them. They're going to be totally fine. Actually, can I have your phone so you can't text Cristina for updates, please?". He says with an outstretched hand.

I dig through my purse for my HTC one. I hand it over to my love.

"One condition. " I said before I placed it in my hand. "If Cristina texts or calls about either Zola, Bailey, or any of the kids, you need to answer it. "

"Yes Love. Of course. "
