Chapter 6

CHAPTER 6

As Dr Bailey walked over to the plastic sheet separating my husband and I,i found myself urging myself to fervour of bed and help Derek. 
"Derek Shepard, do you know where you are? Just nod yes or no."
He nods. 
"Bailey, can you take out the tube? He can breathe on his own, right? He really needs to get better if I'm going to have another kid! Bailey, answer me!!!"
"He will live. He will be just fine to help you raise Zola, Bailey, Emilia and the coming baby. He will be there every step of the way, once he gets better. Does that make you feel better Grey?"
"Yes it does, but only if that's the truth Bailey. Is it?"
"Yes. Derek will be fine after he recovers. Don't you worry about a thing since you should be takin' it easy since your pregnant-again. Now, get back in bed Grey!"
I hadn't realised that I stood up, and was standing over my husband. I understood, since I almost threw up on him from light headedness. 
Bailey reaches over, turns off the pump, pulls out the tube as Derek starts coughing from the lack if moisture in his mouth. 
"Bailey, give him some water!"
She just nods and hands him the pink plastic cup with water in it, and a white straw. 
He takes a sip and the turns to me. 
"Why are you here?". He asks me. 
"I saw you were calling and the location said right outside the hospital, so I went outside but I got hit by a car and blacked out, and they found out that I was pregnant-"
"WHAT?! We just had a baby! We can't have another one so soon!"
"Can I finish my thought, please?"
He nods. 
"So when they found out that I was pregnant, they put the monitor around my abdomen to make sure the fetus is okay until I'm discharged, which will be soon. They flew Addi in to help, so don't be surprised to see her here. "
All Derek says is that he gives me a blank stare. 
"How are you pregnant-again?"
I roll my eyes and tell him, "remember the other night when we had sex for like a half hour? That's apparently when it happened. Ask Bailey. She's the one who found the fetal heartbeat. "

* Five days later*
"Okay Grey, if you sign here, you can be discharged. Derek will be a fee more days. You can get back to work whenever you feel ready to. It doesn't matter to me. Just as long as you will be mentally stable, because you will be on my service until Derek gets back. His recovery will be longer than yours, as e had more internal injuries than you did. "
As I sign, I look over at Derek, lying there peacefully, on the stiff hospital bed. 
"Bailey, can't he come home and just sleep? Because that's all that it looks like he's doing. Why can't he leave with me?"
She looks over, nods her head, and then says "If you really want Grey. I suppose it's all up to you. Fine. I'll go get his discharge papers. You stay right in bed here, Zola, Bailey, and Emilia wi be brought up to you in a bit. They were down in the daycare. And at my house, and Callie and Arizona's and Cristina took them for a night and even Alex Karev took them for a night. Actually, he had them for two nights. Seemed like he does well with children. If you want, I can have Alex and Cristina look after them if you want until you're settled back home again. Wouldn't be too much of a hassle."
"Would they? That would be so nice! I wonder if they actually would. Would you mind doing that Bailey? Please?"
"Yeah sure. I'll go grab Karev and tell him that he's taking Zola, Bailey, and Emilia. "
"Hey Karev. Get over here. "
"Yes Dr Bailey. What do you need, I have to get back to peds. What is it?"
"You and Cristina are taking Zola, Bailey, and Emilia while Meredith is getting Derek settled back in at home. "
"Sweet, I can't wait Dr Bailey. You can always count on me! Hey, you want us to take your kid too, so you and Warren can have a night of your own?"
Bailey pauses for a second. "Yes, thank you for offering Alex. I'll tell the daycare that you will be picking up the four of them. Please tell me that Cristina still doesn't ride her motorcycle anymore?"
"Not that I know of Dr Bailey. "
"Thank god. I don't trust a bike in her hands. I trust a scalpel and clamps and a heart. "
Alex nods and turns away to go find Cristina Yang.
"Yang! We got Shepard and Bailey nods tonight."
"Yay! Tell Mer thanks and Bailey too!"
"On it!"
Cristina nods as Alex walks away to go back to Bailey, and I stand looking over Derek with one hand on the IV fluid carrier, and one on his face. He's sleeping. He looks so peaceful.
