"Sweetface?" I asked, madly blushing. He laughed, "Yeah. Where's my compliment?"
Yeah, that totally ruined the moment.
"Wow I actually thought you were sincere", I said, playfully pouting. "Well don't do that face. You'll force me to give you a sincere comment", he whined.
I continued to pout until he flicked my forehead. "Ang cute talaga ng mukha mo. Hindi ko kaya tingnan", he laughed.
I took his hand and led him upstairs to where Ms. Danielle was.
JK's POV
I don't know what it was about her, but I wanted to get to know her even more.
She was funny, smart, an amazing singer, and she's cute, but that honestly doesn't matter. It's the personality I'm looking for, it just happens that she's gorgeous.
Wait, what?
I just met her, I couldn't possibly be talking about her like this yet. But at least I don't have feelings for her. That's a relief.
"Ang lamig ng kamay mo", I teased. "Di wag mo hawakan", she snapped, immediately pulling her hand away. Me whining at the loss of contact.
"I was kidding", I said, grabbing her hand back. She shook her head as we entered the room, completely forgetting that we were still holding hands.
"Holding hands na agad?" A girl muttered. An older woman approached me and grabbed my hand pulling me into an office. Talk about awkward.
Sydney's POV
I hope this goes well. Juan Karlos seems really cool and I love hanging out with him.
"In fairness ah, gwapo. If I wasn't in a relationship with Darren I would've-" She paused when she saw me glaring at her.
"Stick to one guy Emma. And you're not even dating Darren! You don't even know him", I laughed.
"Whatever. He will after you introduce him, right?" I laughed, "Yes, stop bugging me about it before I change my mind."
She pouted, "Fine. I've gotta shower though. I stink." I laughed and waved her off, jumping on the couch and burying my face in the pillow. The other orphans are probably outside.
I never actually took the time to get to know any of them out of the 6 years I've been here. Emma and I were more on the private side, I don't even know how we had the courage to talk to each other.
Or Juan Karlos.
I removed my face from the pillow and I was about to fall asleep when Juan Karlos and Ms. Danielle came out with huge smiles on their faces.
I got up as Juan Karlos continued to giggle.
Officially my favorite sound ever.
"What did you tell him", I said eyeing Ms. Danielle suspiciously. "Just some stories from when you were little", she laughed, evilly too.
"Let's go", he smiled, grabbing my arm. Aw, so sweet. "Okay, what did she tell you?" I whined.
"Nothing", he laughed. I playfully punched his arm. "Tell me!"
He ran as fast as he could away from me shouting, "Never!"
Ha, fortunately I'm on the track team. I sprinted towards him tackling him on our wooden floor (wow descriptive ah lol). But unfortunately he landed on top of me.
Which was great because he was a very cheeky guy. Note the sarcasm.
"Hey there", he winked. "Get off", I laughed.
"It's pretty comfortable here", he said, getting up and sitting on my stomach. "This is a really awkward position Juan Karlos", I groaned.
"I love it when you say my name", he sighed dreamily.
I laughed even harder, but struggled with because he was still sitting on my stomach.
I tried twisting and turning, but he wouldn't budge. "C'mon you're crushing me!" I whined. "Say that I'm your best friend, you love me, and you have to buy me lunch", he commanded.
"You're not the boss of me", I smirked. "I'm literally sitting on your stomach. Just say it."
I sighed, "Juan Karlos is my best friend and I love him very very much!"
He screamed and started clapping his hands. "Can you get off of me now?"
He muttered a "sorry" and offered his hand to help me up.
I grabbed it and pulled him down with me. "That's what you get!"
He started giggling and we both got up. We've wasted a lot of time sitting on each other.
"We're leaving now!" I screamed and shut the door behind us.
"Okay so, since I have to buy lunch, where do you want to go?" I asked kicking a pebble on the street. "Anywhere. I don't care as long as I get to eat", he laughed.
"Takaw", I muttered. He flicked my forehead and laughed, "Weakling!"
"Aray! Ang sakit hah", I laughed, putting my foot in front of him causing him to trip. "Not so smooth are you now?"
"Lagot. My uncle just saw that", he said pointing to the left. I turned slowly and there he was, laughing at our foolishness.
He grabbed my hand, I was assuming he was gonna introduce me. "Eto si Sydney", he said once we reached his house.
"Hello po", I said shyly. I was turning so red right now. "Hi! Ako ang tito ni Juan Karlos", he said extending his arm. I stood there frozen.
Did I mention I wasn't good with meeting people's relatives or family? I mean, I've never even done it. How should I know what to do?!
Juan Karlos laughed and guided my arm to shake his uncles. "Okay we'll be going before she passes out."
His uncle laughed and waved us off.
I walked by Juan Karlos silently. I don't know why this affected me so much, is it because of my parents? I don't even know anymore.
"Are you okay?" He asked, putting his arm on my shoulder. "Yes. Sorry, I'm just a bit shy", I explained.
He nodded and pointed to a Starbucks. "You can just libre me there", he yelled.
I laughed, "Okay. You're ordering though, I'll just give you the money."
He smiled, obviously amused. "Okay, so you never told me you were an orphan. I never would've guessed you were", he said unexpectedly.
(Okay so Juan Karlos' thoughts here on orphans are made up, okay? I don't really think these things, and I'm sure Juan Karlos doesn't either. So don't get mad, I'm apologizing in advance for anyone who may get offended by this. These are not, I repeat, my, nor Juan karlos' actual thoughts on orphans, okay? So please don't get offended)
"What do you mean you never would've guessed?" I asked, slightly offended.
"I mean, wouldn't orphans usually be all sad and depressed and stuff, since they don't have any parents?" He asked.
And here I thought he was the perfect boy.
"No. That's not true at all. But honestly, I don't blame you. You don't know what it's like to lose both of your parents in some car crash that you survived instead of them. Yes, it feels horrible, but that doesn't mean we're gonna sit around and mope about it for the rest of our lives", I snapped.
"What do you mean? I've lost a parent before and I know how it feels to be lost and abandoned."
"Whatever. I'm going home. Just forget about this", I said, turning around and going back to the orphanage.
It seems like I'm overreacting, but what he said was super offensive.
