"Best friend, wag kang nervous. Sa ganda ng voice mo, ikaw pa ang magiging nervous?" Emma scolded. We were currently on the way to Resorts World Manila and let me tell you this, I was sweating like a pig.
"How am I not supposed to be nervous? Paano pag hindi mag turn yun coaches. Kahit isa lang sana", I whined. I always over-thought things. Maybe I should try not to?
Maybe I should just let loose. Joke around with Emma, maybe even the coaches. Before I knew it I was standing in front of a huge venue. (Is that what it's called, I'm sorry it's almost midnight here and I'm tired lol)
"What if I forget the lyrics? What if I freeze on stage? What happens if the judges don't like my singing? I'm going crazy!" I panicked.
Emma slapped the back of my head causing my hair to go all over my face. Ugh oh well, no time to fix it now because I'm fricking NEXT. And yes I was definitely late. Since someone didn't want to get up.
Yeah okay, maybe it was my fault. Not really Emma's. I just like blaming things on her.
I sat in the room with Alex Gonzaga as she tried to calm my nerves down. "Wag kang nervous, okay? Mabait ang mga coaches. Minsan", she joked.
I laughed along, but soon that was demolished by the red 'stage' light that finally turned on. "Sige na. Sing your heart out!" She squealed as she ushered me on stage.
"Started out like, in the movies", I began to sing until coach bamboo turned. I smiled, but continued to sing.
"But it ended like a bad dream.
Curtain opened, heard the crowd roar. This ones a repeat, seen it before.
Rewind to the start before it all won't wrong, what's goin' on?
Fast forward to the en after everyone's gone home. And they've forgotten it all.
This ain't a movie, that I wanna see. A tragic story, starring you and me.
Yell cut we're stuck inside this scene, this is heartache on the big screen."
I didn't realize Coach Lea and Coach Sarah turned until I looked up from the ground. "Ohmygosh", I muttered, a smile creeping onto my face.
"Your performance was flawless, but iha, anong ngyari sa buhok mo?" She laughed. Oh yeah, forgot about that.
"Yun best friend ko po. I was nervous so she hit the back of my head. Maybe she thought it would stop me from being nervous but in all honesty, I think I have a headache now. At mukha pang may birds nest sa ulo ko", I explained.
All three coaches let out loud laughs as I nodded at them, "I feel like I'm so funny now. I made all three coaches cackle", I said, trying to stifle my laughter.
Ms. Lea started clapping her hands, while laughing of course and stood up. "This girl is hilarious. Another reason why you should join my team. I'm hilarious too", she said.
"Of course you are. You just made a joke right there", Coach Bamboo laughed. Coach Lea laughed and rolled her eyes.
"Well, you see, wait what's your name?" Coach Bamboo asked. "Sydney Gonzalez po", I answered.
"Choose me, Sydney. We'd have so much fun together, laughing and having fun", Ms. Lea challenged.
Coach Bamboo laughed. Yes he laughed. "Well you can be a Disney Princess, or a pop princess, but why pass up the chance to be a Rock Princess", he winked.
I straightened out my plain t-shirt. "Ok wow. Hirap ah. Lahat pwede maging princess. Pero, I think this coach matches the kind of music and genre I listen to. I feel like this coach can help me be a better singer and of course, I feel like it'd be pretty easy to make this one laugh", I smiled. "I'd love to be a pop princess, or a Disney princess, but I choose Coach Bamboo", I said.
Hardest decision of my life. He walked up to my and put the scarf around my neck. "Great job, rock princess", he laughed giving me a hug.
"Pwede mag hug, Ms. Lea and Ms. Sarah?" I asked politely. They both approached me and engulfed me in a hug.
I waved back at them and finally walked off stage. "You did it!" Emma screamed. "I did it!" I screamed back.
My dreams?
Were finally coming true.
