A Strange Change (Part 3)

He was proud of her though like he knew every man in ETF was! It was the very reason they had not wanted Sakshi to print a report about the incident. Riya did her duty, something which even experienced and senior officers didn't have a heart to do at times. They had not wanted all that to go public in the form of a critic report to question her motives or credibility. It was her legacy... which the four of them would protect at all costs!!

The three girls were oblivious to the strange behaviour of the 4 ETF men after the mention of the file. They were gossiping about it when the two ETF bosses followed by the two ETF men entered the conference hall and they immediately shut up.

Rathore- Guys we have a case, it is about...

But before he could finish his phone rang interrupting him. Slightly annoyed he took out his phone from the pocket and picked it up while walking towards a corner of the conference room. Meanwhile Arjun took the file in his hand and flipped through the pages studying the case when his reading was interrupted by a loud shout

Rathore- What!!! I will be right there!

Saying so Rathore grabbed the ETF SUV keys and dashed out of the conference room running like a maniac toward the parking lot. The rest of the team just stood completely stunned at this odd behaviour. Over coming the shock Arjun rolled his eyes and then faced his team, he started briefing them about the case as he read the file and they immediately started working on the case.

After about an hour Arjun received a call from Rathore saying that he will be taking a 2 day leave and till he returns it is Arjun who will be heading the team. When Arjun announced this to the team they were slightly shocked and worried too. It was not very likely of their ETF chief to suddenly take a leave and especially after him suddenly running out of the office because of a phone call was scary. They just hoped and prayed that every thing was fine.

Within two days the case was successfully solved and the team was now drowned in paper work all of them including Arjun were sitting in the conference room, Arjun was flipping through a case file while the team was getting paperwork done and softly whispering amongst each other when Rathore entered the conference room.

The whole team stopped what they were doing and looked at him, they were trying hard to read his face and find traces of sadness, tension or anger but nothing much to their relief. In fact their ETF chief looked happy, out of the ordinary his face was glowing. He walked up to his usual seat in the conference room and sat down.

Rathore- Shree, what happened in the case I want complete briefing along with the file in my cabin by the end of the day.

Shree just nodded while everyone was glad all was okay. Especially Arjun, he never expressed but he was hell worried for his ex best friend. He wanted to go and ask him what the matter was but his ego did not let him, however seeing him normal did put his mind to ease. The team had resumed work and started chatting when both the bosses left for their respective cabins. After about an hour or so the team finished the paperwork. Rathod gave them permission to leave but instructed Arjun, Shree and Chotu to stay back. Once the girls left the 4 men sat in the conference hall.

Rathod- When I was on leave tab mujhe Riya ke doctor ka call ayaa...

With this sentence the ears of his colleagues pricked and the gazed intently at him while even the disinterested Arjun Rawte also was now paying attention to him.

Shree- Sir kahi woh...

Chotu- Nahi!

Rathod- No! Not at all he called up saying that Riya had shown signs of improvement, they want to send her to Singapore for better treatment.
