Not without you (Part 11)

All of them nodded an sat to complete the paperwork. The team was working on the paperwork when the heard the noise of a glass shattering all of them looked at each other stunned. The immediately sprung up to their feet and rushed towards the source of the sound.

As they were running down the building they also heard loud sounds of the gate collapsing. They sprinted down to see Arjun and Rathore already standing there. They looked towards the place the bosses were staring at shockingly and they also stood there stunned. A van had forced itself into the ETF office breaking the gate in the process. All of them immediately took out their guns and circled around the van. They stood like that for sometime, with nothing else happening Arjun spoke.

Arjun- Dekho whoever you are. Come out and tell us what you want stop playing hide and seek. 

Rathore- Kyu aaye ho yaha aise? and who are you?

The door of the van opened and a man came out dragging another man with him at gunpoint. The man who was dragging the other man had a black mask on while the other man was beaten and bruised badly. The man in the mask started laughing

Man- ETF, The great Mumbai ETF, who can solve any case, let us see how you solve this case. 

He threw a file towards Rathore who caught it. 

Man- Chief tum ho na, this is your new case. Complete it in 48 hours otherwise a lot of people will lose their life. 

He laughed viciously. The team ran into the conference room and seated themselves. 

Rathore- Shree find out about the van, Sakshi handle the media nobody should no what is going on in here. Ayesha and Riya find out about the other wounded man. Chotu check the van for a bomb while me and Arjun try to talk to the person. Am I clear

Everyone except Arjun- Yes sir

It was almost midnight but nobody wanted to take rest all of them were diligently working. Chotu had checked the exterior of the van but there were no traces of a bomb. The van had been stolen from a parking lot around a week ago. The previous owner had abandoned it. The injured man was a principle of Saint Andrew school. The file the man had given them was of a five year old girl who had gone missing from the Saint Andrew school campus. The police had closed the case as they were not able to locate the girl. Riya researched some stuff about the girl and her family also only to find out pretty normal things. A husband and wife with a five year old girl living a middle class life. The husband worked in an IT company while the wife was a home maker. 

On the other hand Arjun and Rathore were trying to talk to the man. They wanted to go easy as another innocent man was at gun point. Still holding his gun Arjun asked

Arjun- Why are you doing this? You could have done a police case. You know what you are doing is illegal right? If we catch you, you can be given death sentence for threatening government officials.

Man- I don't care about myself anymore. Do what I have asked you to! Your time is running

Rathore- Look we can talk calmly also please put your gun down and leave him

Man- NO! You are wasting your time here better use it to solve the case.

Arjun- But

The man pushed his gun further into the principles skin

Man- One more word and he will be dead meat

Defeated Arjun and Rathore returned back to the conference room. Rathore took his seat and was reading the case file again in order to find any clues while Arjun stood in front of the pin board where all the clues had been put up. 

Arjun- Uska Principle ko yaha lana, yeh case dena. It seems like he is related to the girl. Maybe her dad.

Riya- Quite possible sir, Statistics ke hissab se 97% times a person who wants a certain case solved is emotionally connected to it. 

Arjun gave her the look while she rolled her eyes. 

Rathore- Arjun tum aur Riya uss bachi ke ghar jao. See if you can find more information

Riya- Sir at this hour? I mean it is 1 in the morning it would not be right to disturb them

Rathore- Apologise, do what you want, somebodies life it as stake. 

Riya nodded and the duo left. Arjun sat at the drivers seat while Riya sat on the co-driver seat. It was dark the road was fairly empty. It was clear sky the sky was lit by the stars and the moon. The road was brightened by the street lamps. Riya rolled down the window as the air gushed in to the speeding car. Her hair flew across her face as it danced to the tunes of the wind. A smile escaped her lips. She could not remember when she had gone for a car ride in the middle of the night last. She used to do this often alone or mostly with her friends while she was at the research desk. 

Arjun looked at her from the corner of her eyes. Beautiful is the only word that came to his mind. His hands urged to tuck her hair behind her ear but he clutched the steering wheel tighter in order to resist himself from doing that. Why was he losing himself? had he forgotten the lesson life taught him? Never trust anyone. Never! Falling in love again is inviting trouble. 

Wait did he just say falling in love. Was it that what was happening to him!? Stop yelled his mind push away the thoughts and concentrate on driving. You are just losing your mind because of the excessive workload he tried to convince himself. But how long will he be able to lock his feelings up? 

He pressed the breaks as the car stopped in front of a small house. The duo stepped out. Oh how much Riya hated this. All the feelings she was burying down just bounced up every time she saw him. How weal she felt when he looked into her eyes. 

Arjun knocked on the door, they waited but there was no response. So Arjun knocked again this time harder and much to their surprise the door was open. They stepped into the dark house. 

Riya- Hello? Koyi hai

Said Riya as she took tiny steps trying not to fall down. Ouchh she suddenly yelled as she fell towards the ground. Arjun took a hold of her hand and pulled her towards him stopping her from falling. She crashed into his chest her hands on his shoulders as his hands were around her waist to support her and himself. 

Riya looked up into his eyes and got lost. Suddenly the words said by Ayesha echoed in her head and she was jolted back to reality. She took a step back and meekly whispered a sorry. Arjun just nodded in response and started looking around for a light switch. 

Why was she so comfortable in his arms. Why did time seem to stop. Why was it that she found solace there. She had to stop feeling like that for him. It would only hurt more. Little did she know he was stopping himself to love her. He loved her like no one else could ever. But something stopped him, not her, not him but the thought of betrayal. Pulling them out of their thoughts.

Two bodies crashed onto the floor...lifeless
