Care to be a little bit more specific? I texted Spiderman back.
I've got a lead that I need to investigate and I thought you should come with. He responded.
Look, I'm really not in the mood to play detective, okay? If it's really really important, then fine. I laid on my bed and stared at the ceiling. I started to drift off to sleep when I heard the phone ding.
It's the man that caused that huge wreck the other day. He struck again tonight.
I sat up when I read that message.
Is everyone alright? I texted back.
Three casualties.
Before I could respond, another text came in
One child orphaned.
Now my blood was really boiling.
Where should I meet you? I texted.
I left my room and went to my mom's room. She was reading a book in bed.
I knocked on the open door and she looked at me.
"Hey, sweetie. What's up?" She asked.
"Peter needs The Florist's help. I don't know when I'll be back." I said as I leaned on the door frame.
"Okay, be safe out there. Love you." she said and blew a kiss at me.
"Love you too, Mom. And really? Come on. I'm The Florist. I can handle anything."
"Don't get too cocky. That's how you get killed." She chuckled.
I rolled my eyes. "Okay. See you later, Mom."
I met Peter at the place he told me to. When I arrived, his back was turned to me. A devious smile spread across my face. I grew a vine from where I was to Peter. The vine grabbed Peter and wrapped him up. He couldn't move.
He let out a small scream and struggled against my vines. I started to laugh.
The vines turned Peter around to face me.
"Poppy..." He let out a relieved sigh. Then he got mad.
"What the hell?"
"I'm sorry Spidey... I just..." My smile faded, "I've had a really shitty day. I needed a laugh. Sorry."
I let Peter go from my vines.
"Oh... You want to talk about it?" He offered.
I shook my head. "I'd rather not... But thanks for the offer."
"Well in that case..." he trailed off.
Suddenly he shot two webs at me. Each web grabbed my wrists. He pulled on them to pull me closer to him.
I grew tiny plants where the webs stuck to me. I slipped my wrists out as soon as he pulled on the webs. He fell to the ground.
"Your webs are ineffective against me, sorry Spidey." I laughed.
He stood back up. In one swift movement, he shot another web at me. This time he pulled me in close to him. I was caught off guard. Once I reacted, I was already in his arms.
He took off his mask. He smirked.
"Hi there." He said.
I rolled my eyes. "In an actual real fight. I would win. Just saying."
"Oh, sure..." he said in a mocking tone.
Once again we stayed inches away from each other for a long time.
This time we had real eye contact. Peter's mask was not on. I could see his brown eyes and as always, he could see my (e/c) ones through my mask.
In that moment I had forgotten why we were here.
