Peter sat a few desks in front of me. I assumed we'd be doing something boring but I was wrong. Our teacher Mr. Rustin, gave us a project. We had to modernize our assigned Shakespeare play to be more appealing to a modern audience. I got Romeo and Juliet. Peter was assigned Hamlet.

I decided my rewrite of Romeo and Juliet was going to be about a Robots and Aliens fighting over who gets to enslave the Human race. The Capulets will be the aliens and The Montagues will be the Robots.

A little controversial, but I made the Montagues the robots because I believe that Romeo is the bad guy here. Also aliens would totally have claim over the humans.

After school, I went home. My mom was in the kitchen cooking something that smelled amazing.

"Hey mom!" I called to her as I dropped my house keys into my bag.

"Hey sweetie. How was school?" She asked.

"Boring until English. Who do you think would have the right to enslave the Human race, aliens or robots?" I sat on top of the kitchen counter while I talked with my mom.

"Aliens of course," She replied. I looked into the bowl she was stirring. It was a tan color with black dots.

"Are you making chocolate chip cookies?" I ask as I dip my finger in the bowl and lick off the dough.

My mom puts the bowl down and looks at me with a smile. She then nods to a bag of popcorn on the other side of the stove.

"You're making chocolate chip popcorn cookies?" I ask while I lean forward and almost fall off the counter.

"Just for you sweetie," My mom said as she bopped my nose, "Go start your homework."

"Ugh, fine." I hopped off the counter and trudged to my room. The white walls of my room were covered in portraits of the Avengers. Next to each Avenger, everything I could ever need to know about them was written. It was handy until I invited someone over. I'll have to take all that down when I invite someone over.

I plopped down in front of my desk and started to work on my homework. I didn't get very far, nor was I really planning to do much homework that night.

I decided to look online to see if Spiderman was active today. Surely enough, he was. He was currently in a park chasing after a bank robber.

Just then I heard the oven timer go off. I leaped from my seat and ran towards the kitchen. My mom was pulling out a cookie sheet full of cookies.

"They have to cool off, don't even think about it," She said without turning around.

I sat at the little kitchen table. My mom sat down also.

"So, status update." she prompted.

"Well, Peter is really nice. He'll be really easy to manipulate," I said. I got up to grab a cup for water.

"That's good. did you make any other friends?"

"Did I make any other friends uh..." I took a sip of my water. "Mm, I met Peter's friend Ned."

"Anyone else?" she questioned.

I took a long sip of my water and avoided eye contact.

"Honey, I know it's your first day but you need to make other friends. What are you going to do after your mission?"

"I'll make more friends." I snatched a cookie and ate it.

The rest of the night was uneventful.
