Kristoff

Kristoff was enjoying breakfast. Having not only his mate and their children but also being surrounded by his pack, was everything. So when his phone vibrated in his pocket as he was halfway through his meal he was tempted not to check it. He knew he had to though. Unlocking the screen when he saw the message was one in a group chat that involved the major players of the supernatural world he couldn't put off looking at the message. Groaning when he read that an emergency meeting was going to be held in twenty minutes. Kristoff resigned himself to spending more time away from his mate. Freya turned her questioning gaze to him. Indicating for her to follow him out he got up. When she stood he moved to her and placed his hand on the lower part of her back, he guided her to the living room.
"I have to take an emergency call in twenty minutes, did you have plans for the day?" she shook her head but spoke anyway "I was thinking of going to the infirmary and visiting with Lucy" his eyebrows shot up "Really?" she nodded "Yeah we talked a little last night and we clicked... I think I can help her" tilting his head Kristoff thought for a moment he knew something was going on with Cal and Lucy but he wasn't sure what "Okay, Cal is staying with you all day" she frowned at that but he wasn't going to budge and if he could help his longtime friend out he would. "It's not that I doubt you but all Luna's have security wherever they go. Until you decide on a guard of your own we'll just place whoever is available with you" Her headed tilted mirroring his earlier action then she smiled up at him. He bought his hand up to cup her cheek. How could he not have fallen for this woman who called to his soul? She was beautiful inside and out.
Kristoff sat in his office, his knee bobbing impatiently as he listened in on a conference call he had been looped into almost two hours ago. Six of the strongest supernatural world leaders were on his screen.
The last two hours had been political bullshit his wolf had no time for and was steadily getting more impatient. The animal knew that once this meeting was over he was free to stalk his mate and play.
"Let's cut the bullshit I have important things to do" Kristoff gave into his wolf's demands to speed things along. His wolf growled in approval then lay down quietly, waiting.
Kristoff observed the group, his stare met with Safina's. Many had underestimated the Indian beauty, seeing only her exterior but she was a merciless opponent, an Apsara. A being so rear that even some supernatural beings forgot their existence.
The Apsara of mythology were celestial singers and dancers who inhabit the heaven of the God Indra. The most important part of the legend that was always forgotten was that they had originally been water nymphs. Kristoff knew for a fact that Safina could bend water to her will making her even more dangerous. He knew that if he ever went to war with her he would have to take her out quietly, stealthily.
Safina spoke into the silence that had fallen. "It appears that a faction is attempting to cause dissension in my territory" The bomb of her statement caused a unilateral scoff of disbelief. Safina was hailed as a Goddess by her people. "The attempts I'm assuming were futile?" The question came from Lucian a fellow Alpha shifter who ran a bear clan in Canada. Lucian was also a very good friend. The friendship had been formed a long time ago when the two were still infants. Their mothers had been the best of friends both females having grown up in a human city. The two had gravitated together being the only shifters in their high school and the rest was history.
Out of all the beings in the conference call, Lucian was the only one Kristoff would ever trust.
A nod from Safina "I do not know why the attempt was made, yet. My people are investigating the situation but after the attack on the Hekate I thought it prudent to announce this attack" Kristoff's attention was caught at the mention of his mate's family name It was Lucian who spoke, "The Hekate were attacked?" Another nod from Safina "No one knows the particulars but one of the coven notified one of my people before the coven went quiet" there were murmurs among the group. The normally silent Vampire Andreas's attention had focused in on Safina at the mention of the Hekate name. His jaw was firm a muscle twitching.
Kristoff was intrigued by the show of attention. The vampire normally kept his silence, never showing any indication of interest. The man was old. So much so that his own grandfather had known the vampire as an old power when he ruled the pack.
"I thought it best for everyone to be aware of the growing unrest. To try and cause agitation within my own borders as well as an attack on the Hekate coven speaks of an enemy with dangerous arrogance." The displeased tenor of Safina's voice was whip through his speakers.
"Tell us of this Hekate coven that you seem to respect" Kristoff turned his attention to the only other female in this group, Heja leader of the Valkyrie's. Safina's eyes widened slightly "Don't tell me the great leader of the Valkyrie doesn't know of the most powerful female line ever produced by witches?" To say Kristoff was shocked at the proclamation was an understatement. He had to fight to keep his composure. Freya hadn't said a word about the power her family held, or that she herself may hold. Questions swirled his mind alongside feelings of betrayal. He had thought that she trusted him. Could she not trust him with her secrets.
Kristoff hadn't noticed the end of the meeting until Lucian spoke. "Are you well my friend?" Kristoff nodded "Of course. I have some issues I need to clear up within my territory" Lucian's eyes narrowed slightly, then with a wave he too signed off.
Strange how when the meeting had started he couldn't help but wait for the call to finish, yet now he struggled to get out of his chair and confront the questions swirling around his mind. His wolf rumbled in his chest, the animal not believing the man's doubts.
Furr licked at his skin his wolf pushing him to go to her.
