[28] IT WORKED

ALEXA'S POV:

After I told them the plan that came across my head, they all had different expressions on their faces.

Mary looks like she was still thinking of it, Dibby looks excited and Lily was nervous.

"So? What do you think?"

"It's brilliant!" Dibby clapped her hands, grinning childishly.

"It is pretty good. But, I don't know." Mary had her hand under her chin.

"But, what if we got caught?" Lily said in a timid voice. Mary and Dibby nodding a bit.

Lily shakes her head. "I'm sorry, guys. But, I don't think I'm in. I'm too scared."

My heart sanks.

"Yeah, I don't think it's necessary." Mary said and wrapped her arm Lily's shoulders as if telling her that she's with her.

I looked at Dibby and she seems too torn now to even decide.

I sighed heavily. "'Fine, we won't do it."

"Sorry, Alexa."

"It's fine."

We continued hanging out until late at night. That was until Dibby and Lily had to go home and now I'm left alone with Mary.

"So, how do you feel now?" I asked carefully.

"Better now. Thanks for coming over and I'm sorry that you might have a flu after riding in the rain earlier."

"Nah, it's fine. More reason to not go to school." I shrugged.

She chuckled. "No, really. Thank you for being there. If it weren't for you guys I'd probably still be crying and mourning over him right now."

"That's what friends are for, right?"

"Yeah. By the way, aren't you going home?"

"Oops, I forgot about that. Well, gotta go! Bye!" I quickly stands up and take my things but she stopped me.

"Hey, Alexa?"

"Yup?"

"Don't do anything." She said in a stern voice and points her finger at me.

I grinned like Cheshire cat. "Anything could happen. I can't promise you." I winked.

She shook her head and rolled her eyes. "Whatever, Alexa."

I rushed home. Once I arrived, I entered the house only to meet with my mother's worried face and my father's stern look.

I tried to avoid them but of course that didn't work.

"Alexa. Sit here."

I obliged. I saw my brothers at the top of the stairs all laughing at me. I glared at them.

"Alexa Evan Winter Knight, where were you?"

'The full name calling is never a good sign.'

"To my friend's house." It's all about confidence and no stuttering.

"And why are you late?"

"I lost track of time and forgot to tell you."

"Why didn't you answer your phone?"

"I put it on a silent mode and when I tried to open it, it suddenly ran out of battery. You know my phone have a slight battery problem."

They sighed. "Well, Alexa. I know you're a strong girl but we are still you parents. So, it might be a good idea to at least tell us."

"I'm sorry."
