chapter 1: bitter life.
"Maddi hurry up, we're going to be late!" shouted my Mum in her usual irritating voice. dont get me wrong i love her to bits, but sometimes being an only child can be frustrating. "Coming!" i slowly maoned being in no rush what so ever to get to the front door.
The names Madeleine...well Maddi is what i prefer, but in general yes my name is Maddi Hart. I live in Perth Australia, well use to up until now. Dad got offered a big promotion on which he had been working towards for almost 10 years or as he says it feels like forever. I really didn't want to leave and still don't! i have all my friends here and i've never moved schools before. Before i knew about the business oppertunity and about having to move, i always wondred how scary it would feel to have to move to a brand new school, a brand new place with brand new faces. The thought of it made me realise how lucky i was that it wasn't going to happen any time soon.. well thats what i thought.
I didn't bother trying to talk my parents out of it as that would be just selfish. Any way it's not like they were going to listen to a 15 year old girl.
"Cheer up Maddi-moo, you'll have a fresh new start and you know what that means?" i looked at my Dad as if i just got punched in the face. "No Dad what does it mean?..." i moaned. "A bright new future with brand new oppertunities! Melbourne city here we come!" Dad seemed very enthusiastic about it all. I of course was not. A million things came to my head saying no Dad it means that i loose all of my friends, my school, my house, my room, my haven. Then i stopped and wiped the thoughts clear. Listen to yourself! i thought. My this and my that, its not all about you. i felt guilty and stopped thinking about my selfish self for once.
