Craving

Chapter 6

-FLASH BACK-
Dads favorite , fresh baked chicken, lima beans, corn, carrots, peas and French cut green beans. Topped with a homemade biscuit crust. I'm not a big fan of cooking. But i make a killer chicken pot pie.

I was just taking the dish out of the oven when I heard the garage door open. I'm getting nervous now. My heart beat is so fast im afraid I might pass out. Steve came rushing in to the kitchen. I was gripping the counter so hard.

"Oh baby" is all Steven said as he rushed to me and held me close kissing my forehead.
" you need to calm down" he released me and held  me far enough to look in my eyes.
" don't worry. Brandon said he'll talk to your dad. And I'll set the table " i nodded. Thankful that he was there with me.
" ready" he asked looking at me with a big smile.
I nodded and held his hand and led him towards the living room.

Brandon was telling dad about his new job offer and how excited he is to start working there. And my dad looked proud of him. The vibes were looking good and felt myself relax a little bit. Steven looked at me and squeezed my hand letting me know he's there for me.

" hi dad. Steven is joining us for dinner today and Brandon will be here too." I said smiling.
" thats ok ness. Dinner smells nice. I'll get changed and be down soon" he said and climbed the stairs.

I sat down near my brother and gave him a big hug. He seemed surprised.
" thank you. I will never forget this" I said.
" its not over yet ness." He said giving me a goofy grin.
" I know but you put him in a good mood. And I know you can do it"
"Ok ok stop crushing me you goof" he said pushing me away grinning even wider. 
"Oh and congratulations on your new job. Why didn't you tell me." I asked him feeling a bit left out.
"That's because i got the call only a few minutes earlier when you were in the kitchen." Brandon said.
"Steven i think you should be the one to speak to dad about the whole marriage thing and ness you join him. And ill be here to back you up. " Instructed Brandon on a strategy.
" this time its three against one" Brandon said standing up and moving to get the remote.
We all fell silent as dad came down the staircase in a pair of shorts and a tee shirt.

" would you like a beer " asked dad turning to Steven.
"That would be awesome Mr Quinn. Thank you" Steven said and looked at me with a smile.
Dad turned to Brandon next.
Brandon stood up and went towards the fridge and brought back 3 beers and each one a beer and finally sat down with his.
"I'll get dinner to the table " I said heading to the kitchen.
" I'll help" Steven said following me in.
I heard Brandon say something like "they look good together don't they dad. "

"Don't worry it will be ok" said Steven.
Steven set the table. I set the food down and turned to steven and hugged him as tightly as I could.
" I love you"
"And I love you" Steven responded.

Steven gave me peck on my lips and pulled me towards the living room.
"Lets get this done" he said

"Come on guys we should eat before it gets cold"
Both stood up they look so alike. Dad had gray hair on his sides and a few on his beard and slightest wrinkles around his eyes and mouth. But other than that they looked so much alike.

We all sat down and served our food. Everyone got busy eating. Dad took a few bites and smile at me when i looked at him.
" this is amazing Ness. Thank you" He said lifting a fork full of pie to his mouth.
" yeah ness this is great" said Brandon.
"I hope you invite me over to your place once you guys are married and feed me with more of this."
I almost choked hearing this. And i stared at him.
He looked at me and grinned.

After dinner Brandon offered to clean up. That puts us in the position for next step.

Steven walked to me and took my hand in his and squeezed.
"Mr Quinn. I would like to speak to for moment please." He said. Dad looked at us and sighed. 
"Ok" he said putting down a glass of water he was drinking.
" sir i love your daughter very very much and I know i can make her happy. " I squeezed his hand and nodded when he continued. " I know i can make Ness happy "  dad looked at me and I smiled letting him know that's what i want too.
"Dad i want to be with him. I want you to give us your blessing"
Brandon chose that moment to walk in to join us.
" what are we talking about" he asked. Turning to dad.
" well your sister seems to be growing up faster than I wanted. They want to get married."
"Wow sis. Congratulations. Im so happy for you And Steven." He chirps hugging us both.
" whens the big day"
" well dad has to approve first"
"Oh dad" Steven groaned looking at his father
"What about the business that will belong to you. Your brother refused to take over because he wanted to make it on his own." He said turning to me. "all this will be yours. If your not going to business school and steven in acting how will you manage all this."
"I'll be able to help you as acting is not a daily job. Unless i sign a movie. But i can do it if i can manage my time around" Steven said hopefully.
I felt so happy as Steven went on explaining what he wants to do and how he will include the company in his schedule.
Dad looked like he was crumbling under the new turn of events. And i felt hopeful. Brandon looked happy with the arrangements too.

Finally after a long conversation between the two of them dad smiled
" ok I'll give you permission to marry. But not the rights of ownership till I know you can do it" he said. We both nodded as that was a big step. And satisfied for now.
" then we should start planning a wedding " squealed Brandon. Hugging us both again. I hugged my dad and thanked him. Steven hugged him too.
" thank you Mr Quinn" Steven said with a wide smile
"Oh come on we are family now.  Call me Micheal" dad said with pat on his.
