I was still trapped under the table. "Bunny!" Wilamena clenched to Micheal and softly cried. The wolf was growling as if he was threatening the earthquake while Kate had wrapped her arms around him.

"Mom?!" Kate had to yell for me to hear her.

"Yes?!" I responded.

"Where are Dad and Emma?! They've been gone for a while now!"

"I don't know! But I'm sure they're okay!"

The wolf barked even louder at the same time that Micheal screamed, "Look out!"

All the cracks in the building behind us finally connected and it started to crumble. We quickly crawled from under the table and hastily fled to a safe... well, safer place where the crumbling building couldn't harm us. Screams were all around us and were deafening so I was shocked that one of those screams belonged to Kate who was still stuck underneath the table. The bandages on her arm were trapped under one of the legs of the heavy table. She was screaming our names while trying to pull the bandages from under the furniture, untangling them from her arms or basically anything that would give her the chance to get away. But we were all standing too far away to get to her in time as some bricks were already hitting the floor around us. She was probably in other terror and she didn't really help herself anymore. She was squirming and pulling and yelling which only made it worse. Not that I could ever blame her for that. She was fearing for her life, after all, staying calm was easier said than done. I shut down, couldn't move. I knew that trying to get to her would be a lost cause. But I couldn't just stand there and watch. But ironically that was exactly what I did. Fearing that the next step I took could save or doom the life of my child. I kept telling myself to think of something quickly but by doing so I was only wasting more time.

"Kate!" Micheal screamed and started running. Now I finally responded. I wrapped my arms around him and felt another pair already holding him. Both me and Wilamena had to stop him from running to his sister where bricks were raining down. "No! Let me go!" He was stronger then I expected him to be. And it took all my and Wilamena's strength to hold him back. He stopped fighting for a second and looked me right in the eyes. "You're just going to let Kate die?! What kind of mother are you?!" That last question... it cut deeper than I could have ever imagined.

"Micheal,... I... I-"

"Well?!"

"Micheal!" Wilamena yelled and tucked at his arm.

He didn't look away from me or pay any attention to Wilamena. "I said what kind of-"

"Micheal!" she yelled again.

He turned to her. "What?!"

Without another word, she pointed to our left. We followed her finger to see the wolf, who was already under the table, biting and pulling the bandages. And they ripped. He pushed Kate from under the table. They ran towards us when the big, heavy wooden door of the building tumbled forward. The wolf caught it with his back just before it hit Kate's head. She crawled out and continued running. Micheal stepped a few passes forward and met Kate with an embrace. Me and Wilamena quickly joined in.

But Kate quickly pulled back and turned around. "Rafe!" she screamed when she saw the wolf still under the door, flinching at the weight of the door on his back that kept getting heavier as more and more bricks were falling on top of it. The wolf looked her straight in the eyes as he broke down, the weight of the heavy door and bricks crushing him. "No!" She ran back to the door and tried to lift it from the wolf. She looked back at us with desperate eyes. "Are any of you going to help me?!" She was hopelessly pulling at the heavy wood.

"I'll help," Micheal answered. Things were finally quieting down so we didn't have to scream at each other anymore. Wilamena followed him and they were all three raising the pine wooden gate. I was about to help them when I heard another scream.
