After my therapy session, mom left and Sam was confused. Luka still thinks I'm a fake, but it's fine. I really don't care. What I do care about, is my health. All this evening I've been passing out. Like, do I have narcolepsy or something? This is outrageous. Someone told me I was just staring off into space. Another screamed at me. Yelling the end days are near. Claiming my eyes were pitch black. Now I have somewhat proof that I wasn't just seeing things that day. My eyes are turning black everytime it happens. I decided to wear my tinted eyeglasses. I usually just wear contacts, but I can't be freaking out my fellow patients, you know. It starts with a cold chill down my back then I'm in a dream like state again. But when it happened in Sam's office....it was completely different. I felt cold, violated. Then a splitting pain shot through my head, causing me to black out. Or that's what I thought. Earlier I was walking to the yoga room to meditate, but then i felt the chill. The cold. Next thing I know, I'm panting heavily on the ground from the pain, but I didn't black out. I swear it was a dream, but I felt like I was awake.
I could see the same people in the hall as before. Just this time, they were all zombies. I could see myself stuck in a room with Luka, Sam, mom, and a few staff members. They were all yelling. All I could hear was my mother's voice. And it scared me, because those words she said were the same from the last one. "I knew you were a mistake." Then the air was tense, quiet.
That's when I knew, I was outside of the room where my mom took her life in the last vivid dream. Then it ended just like the others. Then an announcement sounded. Telling all the patients to go to their rooms. Staff meet in the staff lounge. That the building was on lockdown. Now I'm in my room. Just sitting here.
Maybe I should turn the news on. See what's the fuss is about. Must be dangerous for the center to shut down like this.
"We've been getting reports of hostile people attacking random pedestrians. There had been five deaths already. If you come in contact with one please run and call the police."
Wow, it's more serious than I thought. I should call mom and make sure she's alright. She might hate me, but she's still my mother.
"Hello?"
"What do you want Morgana?" She asks with a hint of annoyance in her tone.
"Have you seen the news." I ask.
"Yes, it's terrible." Her voice grows softer.
"I know you dont want anything more to do with we than you have to, but please stay safe. Your're still my mother." This is the first time I've ever implied I cared about her since I was thirteen.
"Yeah, well stay safe too." And with that she hung up. I guess I'll be checking the news here and there.
...
"There have been no more incidents, since early this morning."
...
"Scientists believe that there is a flu outbreak going around. It hasn't been fully tested, but they say it's highly contagious."
...
"It is now nine pm. Researchers have told us the symptoms to this disease. If anyone starts to rapidly cough, sneezing, have frequent headaches, or tend to be throwing up more than once a hour. Please contact the police department and stay as far away from that person as possible."
...
It's now ten at night and the staff has started the nightly activities. Not many patients participate in them. Exactly why I'm in love with it. The peace and quiet at night is amazing. So relaxing. Easy meditation. But tonight the halls were eerily. As if trying to warn me of something.
Every step I took made the floorboards creak. I was lightly afraid of the unknown in the dark. Which was a horrible match with my dreams. I paused and looked out a window. Curious with how the outside world looked tonight. People were slowly wandering the streets. They looked so pale. One was banging on a window of a small shop. The manager frightenly hiding behind the door with a gun in his hand. This atmosphere was so similar to my dreams, I begin to panic. It's actually happening isn't it. The apocalypse is here it isn't fake.
"Morgana wake up." Wake up? My eyes flutter open. "It....it was a dream?" I ask more to myself. "Yeah, it was." I'm on the ground. When did that happened? "You look really shaken up. Here let me help you up." He gently pulls me to my feet, only for me to fall again, but he caught me. Who's helping me? My vision is so hazy right now.
"I guess you weren't kidding." He chuckles. "Luka? Is that you? My vision is really hazy right now." I feel so tired. "Yeah, it's me." I can't believe it was a dream. "Luka, can you look out the window and tell me what you see?" I ask. I have to know. "Nothing. All the shops are closed. No one on the street. Why?" What is going on with me?
"No reason. Um, thank you. I should get some sleep." I push myself off the wall, but my feet falter. Hands snake around my waist. "Woah there. Let me help you to your room." I snatch away from him slowly walking back to my room. "I'm fine. Don't touch me."
He only sighs. "Im just trying to help."
"Well I dont need it. You thought I was a fake anyway. What makes you think I wasn't faking it then?" I huffed.
"Because when you opened your eyes and looked at me." He pauses talking slower. "I saw girl scared of her own mind."
My eyes begin to prickal with tears. "I guess you could help." I whisper.
