Estelwen (Alastegiel) POV
I open my eyes to see Aragorn looking down at me. He looks worried. “How are you feeling?" He asks me, concern in his voice.
“My head hurts a little. What happened?" I asked while sitting up. This gesture made me a little dizzy but I quickly recovered.
He seems relieved and exhales before answering my question, “After the avalanche of snow fell you must of hit your head." Oh yeah I remember now. Legolas almost fell off, so I had to grab him and pull him back, I must of hit my head then. Then I realized. I look around the group, I spot Legolas. Good he is ok, I feel a lot better now. Aragorn continues, “We could not stay on the mountain so we decided to come to the Mines of Moria instead." He explained to me everything that happened.
Then I hear Gandalf say, “Oh, it's this way."
“He's remembered!" Merry says.
“No, but the air doesn't smell so foul down here." Gandalf says going down one of the doorways, “If in doubt, Meriadoc, always follow your nose. I used to tell that to Alastegiel when she was little."
I do remember him telling me that. “Yeah, I remember you saying that to me before, Gandalf." Everyone then turns to look at me.
“Alastegiel your awake, how are you feeling?" Gandalf says to me, obviously relieved that I am now awake.
“My head hurts some, but I am fine." I answer.
Gandalf then asks, “Do you know how you hit your head?"
“Yes, but can we talk about it later. Gimli is running of." I say as I point over to where Gimli is running.
“Here lies Balin, son of Fundin, Lord of Moria." Gandalf says as I reach the room Gimli had ran to, “He is dead then. It's as I feared."
All of the sudden I hear a noise and, without anyone noticing, I left the room to go see what it was.
***
After a while I start to venture down a hallway. When I turn the corner I see something I was not expecting, “A Balrog of Morgoth." I say out loud looking up at the creature.
I never thought I would ever see one in real life. Gandalf used to tell me stories of them after he had rescued me. It is a lot bigger and different than I had imagined. I better get out of here.
I turned around and ran back the way I came. I hoped that the Balrog was not following me. But when I look behind me, there the Balrog was.
I then heard a voice in the distance. “This foe is beyond any of you, RUN!" It's Gandalf. I start to run in the direction of his voice so I can catch up to the group.
When I finally catch up to them, they are jumping across a gap in the stairs. “There you are Alastegiel. Let's go." Gandalf says and I jump across.
As soon as everyone makes it across safely we all take off running. I just hope we will all be ok. “Over the bridge, fly!" I hear Gandalf say.
We cross the bridge one by one. I turn around to make sure everyone has gotten across. But then I see Gandalf, he has stopped in the middle of the bridge. “You cannot pass!" Gandalf yells at the Balrog.
“I am a servant of the secret fire, Wielder of the Flame of Anor. The dark fire will not avail you, Flame of Undûn! Go back to the shadow." Gandalf says as he knocks the sword out of the Balrog's hands, “YOU SHALL NOT PASS!" Gandalf brings his staff down on the bridge. When the Balrog takes another step, the bridge crumbled and the Balrog fell.
I let out a breath I did not know I was holding. Gandalf turns around and I open my arms to give him a hug. I hear a loud noise then see Gandalf get pulled over the side. I was about to go help him when he said, “Fly you fools!" Then he let go.
