PIXAL held her head in her hand, frowning at the window. He was gone. Someone she held close to her heart had disappeared at the hands of evil.
It was a sacrifice that made her love him all the more. Zane was something special, and she felt it was unfair for him to be taken away so quickly.
"Zane..." she mumbled. "Why... why did you...?"
Something then stopped her. The computer spoke—spoke in her voice.
"You are Zane. A droid like me. What does Zane stand for?"
PIXAL lifted her head, her green eyes blinking. She ran over to the computers, seeing a picture of her and Zane in a few of the screens. It brought on some memories, to say the least.
"I stand for peace, freedom, and courage—"
PIXAL looked around, surprised. What was going on?
More dialogue between the two was occurring. A scene of PIXAL scanning Zane the first time they met even appeared. "Your hardware is outdated and your processor is low and incompatible. Why are you so different?"
"We're all different. But... I don't feel so different around you."
She couldn't believe what she was seeing and hearing. "Zane... is that... you?"
"You are vital to me."
Her voice on the screen repeated the same thing as him. "You are vital to me."
PIXAL then faced the large screen, seeing something she never thought she would.
The machines in the factory were brought to life, building something. Electricity formed from the large screen, going to the smaller ones showing Zane and PIXAL's faces. That same electricity then went to the other screens.
"I shall see you again."
PIXAL found herself getting on her knees. Something was wrong. Or better yet... something was right.
"I'm... just... Zane."
And that's when it hit her.
She gasped, her eyes wide. Without thinking, PIXAL rose to her feet and turned toward the door.
She walked slowly, and then she ran. She ran out of the door, down the hall and down the stairs. She ran, ran, and ran like her life depended on it.
The droid ran down so many floors, but she didn't care. She wouldn't get tired out. Not for him.
Once PIXAL finally reached the floor she was looking for, she stopped in front of the door. It was the door to the factory, the one that would determine if what she saw was real.
"Zane..."
She smashed the button, entering the factory room. She stood on the ramp as it brought her to the center of the room, where the machines seemed to be greeting her in some way.
And she smiled.
She smiled so wide, seeing the sight in front of her. She couldn't believe it. All of her past thoughts were thrown out the window at what was going on.
Zane was being rebuilt right in front of her. And it couldn't make her happier.
"Are we... compatible now?"
She only thought one thing in response due to the giddy feeling swelling up inside.
Yes, Zane. Yes we are.
