"Alright. So, off to the library?"
I smiled, nodding to Aiden's words as I pushed my toque further down onto my head. The first snowfall of the year, and it was only early november. That was Canada weather for you.. But I wasn't focused on the fluffy snowflakes landing on the tip of my nose, I was focused on our walk to the library to find out about my father.
We figured there would be numerous news articles of a man committing suicide in his own home, and the libary would be the best place to look. You would think I would've seen the newspapers, but I knew if there were any that my mother would try her best to make sure I didn't see them.
She wanted me to get over it.
I scoffed at the thought, who could get over their father dying right before their eyes?
"Peyton, are you leading us the right way?"
I snapped back into reality at Aiden's voice, glancing around at the snow covered trees. I blinked, "I thought you were leading."
Aiden laughed, "I've lived here for three weeks. I have no idea where the town library is."
I blushed slightly, conifident Aiden couldn't tell since my cheeks were already rosy red from the chilly winter air. I leaned against a tree trunk, sighing with a grin, "Guess I got lost in my thoughts again."
I leaned my head against the bark, only for the thin trunk to shake slightly. I closed my eyes in preperation for the snow to fall down on me. I let out a short shriek as the cold substance made its way off the pine needles and down the back of my coat.
Aiden chuckled beside me, "Lead on, snow angel." He brushed the flakes from my blue toque, letting it fall onto my blonde hair.
I laughed, "I thought I was rose."
He wrinkled his nose, "Roses die in winter, so until the snow clears up, you're snow angel."
I giggled, leading the way down the snowy path. "Come on," I twirled as more snow fell from the white sky.
"Peyton."
I spun towards Aiden just in time to see a white ball coming straight for my face. I didn't have time to react before the cold and hard object whipped against my cheek. My jaw dropped as I wiped rapidly at the freezing snow on my face.
Aiden chuckled loudly, and I clenched my fists, "That's it!" I yelled, running after him as he snickered away.
"Too fast for ya!" he taunted as he raced around the park.
I let out a grunt as I turned quickly around a tree, maybe a little too quick. I screamed as I stepped onto a patch of ice, my foot slipping out from under me and sending me down to the ground. In a desperate attempt to stay upright I reached for a nearby branch, only for it to break and send the gathered snow down on my body. I lied on my back in the already fallen snow, the pile of the flakes still covering my body. I blinked, shivering against the white fluffs.
I saw Aiden hovering over me, a huge smirk painted on his lips. He laughed and turned in a circle, "Peyton? Where did you go?" he said stupidly as he pretended to look for me in the snow.
I rolled my eyes, "AJ. This is really cold. Stop being a dumbass and help me up."
He chuckled and reached his hand out to me. I grabbed it and used his power to hoist myself to my feet. I brushed myself off and glared at Aiden. He grinned, "Now you're literally my snow angel."
"You're dead meat!" I yelled, reaching out to grab him. This time my reaction was faster than his, and my fingers clasped around the material of his coat.
