"Liana," I said with a huff as I hopped down the stairs. It was the day after I had gone to Aiden's, otherwise known as the day I had called my mother and told her I would be gone for awhile.

Awhile.

How long did that exactly mean?

To my mother, that probably meant a day, maybe two. Three at maxium. To me, that meant weeks, months, years.. Forever if it was possible.

"Yes, Peyton?" she said with a raised eyebrow as she shoved a piece of toast into her mouth.

I wrinkled my nose in disgust, but I ignored her unladylike manners as I slipped into my jacket. "I'll be back in an hour, I have something to do."

Liana leaned against the counter and rolled her eyes, "Is this going to be your regular routine? Leaving the second you get up every morning?"

I smiled, pushing aside her question, "You sure it's okay if I stay here?"

Liana let out a laugh, "Are you kidding? My parents are never home!" she emphasized the word 'never'. "And when they are, they barely notice what's happening. Don't sweat it," she said with a grin as she gestured for me to leave.

I rolled my eyes but gave her a smile, "Thanks," I swung open the door, "I'll be back soon."

I closed the door behind me and began to jog down the street once again. I looked back at my new home, thinking it should be fun to live with Liana. There was practically no parental supervision, no siblings, what more could I want?

Siblings. The word stabbed at my heart with a guilty feeling. Not only had I left my own two siblings at home with my depressed mother, I hadn't even said goodbye. Besides, I had another sibling to find. My long lost sibling that was mentioned on my father's gravestone.

I bit my lip as I thought back to the words. I didn't even know if it was a girl or boy, older or younger, if they were even still alive! I let out a sigh, my search was practically impossible. I turned down onto Oak Street and climbed up onto my back window until I found myself in my room. All my thoughts escaped my head as I grabbed a bag off my shelf and began stuffing several articles of clothing into it. I made sure to grab my favourite outfits, shoes, and accessories. Then I moved on to pictures and belongings.

I shoved some old pictures of my family into the bag along with my iPod, school books, papers, and some other memorable items that I had kept. I finally grabbed the picture of my father off my desk and carefully placed it into my bag. I zipped it up quickly and swung it over my shoulder. I turned to leave out the window when I stopped dead in my tracks. I held my breath, taking a step towards the door. I silently crept into the hallway, looking around for my mother.

When I though the coast was clear, I tiptoed down the hall until I reached my sister's room. I slowly opened the door, finding her still fast asleep in her bed. I smiled, silently walking over to her. I sat down on the edge of her mattress and ran my hand through her hair. Her blue eyes fluttered open sleepily, and my four year old sister stared at me with all her might.

"Peyton?" she whispered.

I smiled, "Hey, Pamela. Listen, I'm going to be gone for awhile," I whispered to her, watching her eyes droop with tiredness.

"Why?" she whispered.

Tears pricked my eyes, "A little vacation, just for me, okay?" I said with a grin. I ruffled her blonde hair and kissed her forehead gently. "I'll see you soon, just have a good sleep, and let's keep this short meeting our little secret, okay?"

My sister nodded and nestled her head back into her pillow. I stroked her cheek with my finger one last time before I whisked out of the room. I stepped across the hall, swinging open my brother's door and hopping quickly through it. My ten year old brother jumped to his feet in shock, ripping off his headphones as he stared at me with wide eyes. "Peyton?" he said, his voice loud.
