"What exactly are you doing?"
I jumped at the voice, almost falling off the chair I had been standing on. "Don't do that!" I yelled at Liana, however never taking my eyes off the job at hand.
I heard Liana sigh behind me, "That chair is wobbly."
"I realized," I said quietly as I gripped onto the wooden back rest with my strongest grip.
"So what is it that you're doing?" she asked again.
I sighed, standing on my tippy toes. I could just barely touch the roof, but I was able to do so if I leaned forwards against the wall. My arms ached from being airbourne for so long. I wondered how long it had actually been, at least a half hour. I bit my lip as I reached even further, "Can't you tell? I'm plastering over this little hole in the roof."
Liana let out a laugh behind me, "Are you serious? I can't even see the hole!"
I scowled, looking over my shoulder to glare at her when my hand slipped off of the chair. I let out a scream and attempting to grab onto the wall. I flailed my arms in the air and eventually landed on the floor with a crash, the chair tumbling down with me.
Liana rolled her eyes and reached out her hand to help me. I frowned, taking her hand and letting her help me back to my feet. Liana walked over to the wall and stared up at the now plastered ceiling. "You're insane. What on earth made you decide to plaster a non-existent hole in the ceiling?"
I sighed, standing the chair back up. "It was annoying," I mumbled.
My friend scoffed, grabbing the plaster off of the floor and pointing at me with the brush, "No touchy. You lost all house fixing privleges."
I laughed, pushing her hand out of my face, "Yea, yea, now just get out."
She grinned as she walked towards the door, "Aiden's downstairs for you."
My eyes widened, and I pushed her out of the way and raced into the hallway, "Why didn't you tell me that!" I yelled behind me as I hopped down the stairs. I jumped down the last step, obviously misjudging where the actual step began as my heel slid off the edge. My feet slipped out from under me and launched me backwards against the steps.
"Shit," I muttered, rubbing my back.
Aiden let out a short laugh, and I looked behind me to see Liana rolling her eyes. She stepped past me, all the while shaking her head, "Peyton, I suggest a helmet before you kill yourself today."
I stuck my tongue out at her as she disappeared into the kitchen. Aiden smirked, helping me up. I cleared my throat, "So, what brings you here?"
He smiled, "I want you to take me to that music store."
I raised an eyebrow, "Why?" I asked, shoving my messy hair behind my back.
Aiden shrugged, "Amelia decided to get into stupid piano, and now she wants stupid sheet music for one of her stupid songs."
I rolled my eyes, stepping past him and out the front door, "Your sister is what? Six? She's just trying new things. Don't be such a hater."
Aiden scowled, but continued following me down the street. "You act like you've known her all your life. Believe me, she isn't all that great."
I smiled, stopping to wait for Aiden to catch up. "Aiden, your sister is all I have now." I shrugged, looking down as we started walking again, "She is like my sister and I will treat her as one. Soon enough I'll hate her too," I grinned at this, flashing a wink at Aiden.
He rolled his eyes, "I can't believe my mother hasn't radded you out to your mom."
I swallowed, "I know. I owe her everything for that."
