"Remember? When we were lying in this exact spot four years ago?"
I giggled, linking my hand in Aiden's as I used my other to stroke the grass beneath me. "The sun was just about there," I said, pointing to where the sun floated in the sky right above us. I shielded my eyes, trying to remember one of the most important moments in my life.
Aiden laughed, placing his hand over my eyes so I couldn't see. I bit my lip in a smile, breaking into a laugh as he spoke, "Okay, Peyton," he said in a high pitched voice, "Open your eyes."
I snickered, fluttering open my eyelids to find Aiden holding his hand up so I could see his ring finger. The diamond flickered in the sunlight, momentarily stunning my eyesight for the second time. I grinned, "How many times are we going to relive this memory?"
Aiden chuckled, "I'd relive it everyday if I could. It was the one of the best days of my life," he smirked, leaning over to kiss me on the mouth.
"I don't know, AJ," I said as I glanced back at the bright blue sky. "There's six days that I could never pick a favourite from."
He smiled, "Oh yea? And which ones are those?"
I squeezed Aiden's hand, "In chronological order, the day I met you," I said as I kissed his cheek, "The day I found Pria, the day I found my father's letter." I grinned, "The day we just relived when you proposed to me, and the day we made that dream come true two and a half years ago when you got all dressed up in that handsome tux."
Aiden rolled his eyes as I laughed, but then he raised an eyebrow and turned his head so he could see me, "That was only five."
I smiled as I took his hand and slid it across the grass up onto my stomach, "The sixth isn't here yet," I whispered, "But it's due to be here in five and a half months."
Aiden smiled, rubbing my stomach where unborn life grew inside of me. "I love you," he said softly, rolling over so he was leaning over me. I let him capture my lips in his, all the while one thought bouncing around inside my skull.
Nine years ago I met Aiden Jackson.
The courage I fought for, the hardships I cried over, the mysteries I worked to solve, the change I strived to overcome, that all started nine years ago.
One day. One person.
That was all it took to change my life. But this change, this change wasn't like when my father died, or like when I moved out, or like when my mother drifted into depression.
No.
This change made life perfect.
