Theodore and Serenity were the closest of friends but even that did not explain the absurd amount of letters that had been passed between the pair. Minerva was unable to see a table that she once called hers. "I was unaware that you and Mr Manning were so close." Serenity looked over the surface and smiled agreeing. "He is a lovely friend." Her voice was distant and distracted and yet there was an air of knowledge and experience that no 17 year old should have.

"Professor Mcgonagall, may I ask a question?" Minerva turned to her aged daughter and gave her an obvious 'get on with it' look as she looked through her papers. "This Umbridge woman isn't too bad is she?" Minerva just scrunched her lips together and that was answer enough for the girl.

"Serenity!" Theodore walked at an almost running pace to his girl. "I missed you so much." His strong arms wrapped around her and black shoes lifted from the ground. Her red hair flew wildly around her as he spun on the spot. Lips met and they exchanged a heated moment but stopped when a throat was cleared. "Sorry Professor." Minerva slightly raised a happy brow at her daughter and then passed the pair.

"How was your summer?" The group all sat. Alex, Sierra and Serenity were on one side whilst Theodore, Tommy and the golden trio all sat across. They had all had an interesting holiday but Seren kept hoping that she could somehow help the 'boy-who-lived' but she wasn't sure how. "Alright, we went to Portugal." Alex drawled on and gave 'fascinating' facts about the place as well as constantly comparing it to the place that they all called home. Serenity was so busy thinking of Harry and the stunt that the pink toad pulled that she wasn't listening to a word.

"Hey, I know that you are tired but will you come to the astronomy tower with me?" Theodore was shaking slightly which made Serenity send a worried glance in the direction of those in the common room. "Um, yeah, sure. It isn't bad is it?" He shook his head and a little fear was pushed down into her lower stomach. Before much more could be done Serenity found herself being left by a marching boy. Her small legs carried her to the side of the boy that was almost sweating. "Calm down. As long as you haven't killed someone or cheated on me I see no reason to be worried." This only made him sweat more and her dim, green eyes widened but she pretended not to notice.

The astronomy tower was empty and slightly cold but Theodore didn't notice. "Teddy. Please just say it." Her eyes slightly closed in fear of his future words. "Serenity Ellis Dumbledore, I have known you since first year. A year filled with utter joy." Serenity stood feeling suspicious of his actions and words. "I am Theodore Matthew Manning." Confusion fluttered in response to the statement that was seemingly unnecessary. "I also love you." He had told her for the first time the year before and still Seren wasn't over it all. "I love you but love doesn't make me patient." It was playfully pointed with a loving, sharp tone. Still though the boy seemed unmoved as his bottom lip was chewed and sucked.

"Will you, Serenity Ellis Dumbledore marry me?" Wide green eyes opened in shock and a warmth washed through the blood of the witch. "Theodore you scared me. Yes." Once again her feet left the floor as his strong arms wrapped around her centre. The ring was a simple one but it was one that stunned. It may have been simple but it was stunning. "Mrs Manning." He joked and saw her visibly cringe. "Please, you make me feel old." Their lips met but quickly separated. "I should go tell my parents." His fingers linked with hers as they walked together. The stars slowly fading from their eyesight. "Nothing, I mean, nothing could make the astronomy any less special. No unhappy memories will be held for that place." The stairs were curved and an utter pain but quickly enough the pair came to a point that they had to separate. The small ring kept firmly on the slim fingers.

"My girl. How may I help you?" Albus was surprised by the sudden visit but not startled. Although it was unexpected he knew she would come to see him at one point. "Is Professor Mcgonagall here?" Upon hearing her name the older woman walked down the steps from the private quarters. Although at first Serenity forced her emotions of hate down she soon found that a degree of love was found. She had struggled to accept her feelings but life forced it all. "I wanted to ask and tell you both something." The pair were sat, one behind an oak desk and the other on a chair not all that far away.

"First I would ask if you two..." Serenity stopped to study her shoes but took a deep breath in and looked between the comfortably. "If I could, out of lessons obviously," it was directed at her mother but the woman just watched on waiting, "if I could call you both mum and dad." Both faces lit up and joy was found by the pair. "Yes, there was never any question. We had hoped that you would have called us that earlier." At a little more ease the student continued.

"Mum, dad I also wanted to tell you that TheodoreaskedmetomarryhimandIsaidyes." It was rushed but the older pair were used to situations where rushed was the only language some spoke. "Yes?" An arched eyebrow in question. The nod was a sheepish one as the strands covered her face for brief intervals. "Well, I suppose we should be proud but also, be careful." Minerva was shocked at her husband's calm demeanour. "We also discussed this. Just before you came to see us. You may spend Christmas with the Tipton family." A small smile was seen but it would have been larger if she was told this even just a year before. The girl was happy but still she yearned for the family that raised her.

The holiday arrived eventually and Serenity found herself sat next to a man she would soon call husband. "Are you sure that they will like me?" His words made it to her unresponsive ears as her eyelids dropped and dreams claimed her complete attention. The train was could but Theodore made it warm enough for her. He was filled with nerves though as never had he met people who had made such a large impact on the girl's life before. They did raise her after all.

The house seemed like a strange place and the inhabitants looked so different. "Simon, Grace." The two had greeted her and they had surely grown. "Mr and Mrs Tipton." A tear almost fell but she brought it back to a safe emotion of joy. "Mumma, who is that?" A small boy was tugging on his mother's arm slightly. "That girl I told you about. The one that looked after you until you were about three." A large head that was so familiar was seen and finally the tears fell freely. "Raphael." Her arms wrapped around her but he wasn't sure at fist but soon gave in and hugged back. "I have always loved you." Her voice wavered but quickly her legs straightened again and she took the hand of Theodore.

"So, who is this?" It was Mrs tipton, her brown hair had greyed and was a little longer, she had also lost a little weight but her once olive skin paled. Mr Tipson had lost lots of weight too and grown a beard. He was always a jolly man and it was what had brought her through her childhood at times. "Theodore. He and I are engaged." It was simply and blandly stated as the elders watched on. "You met him at that school I suppose." Her ginger locks covered her face periodically in agreement.

The holiday, her birthday and the train journey just flew and so did her memories. "They were like strangers. We have all changed so much. I don't remember them properly as I always remembered a different side to them. I mean Raphael didn't even know who I was." Loving hands traced the long back that belonged to the girl. "Do you want kids?" His question was unexpected but she knew eventually he would ask it. "Yes, they will have stunning hair and no dreadlocks." He nodded in agreement making his small afro move wildly.

The school had definitely changed, rules, staff, students all were different. It caused chills to run up students spines. "How was it?" Minerva was anxious to see if her daughter still preferred them or resented the long time spent apart. "Alright, they, I changed. It wasn't the same anymore. I mean I loved it but we definitely grew apart." There was a hint of glee and also sorrow at the fact of the girl having to finally face that undesirable fact. People change.
