The room was cold and bare as charms were attempted. Continuous mutterings of the same charm rang in the students ears as they all stood and tried to lift a feather. Few had been successful in their attempts and even those who had done it the result was barely noticeable. "Wigdon levoma." One student, Gryffindor, muttered to the left of Serenity and she looked at him with wide 'the hell?' Eyes. He shrugged his shoulders and joked of hoping it would work better. This made Serenity want to focus more but still she could only get it to work weakly. "Well done Miss Tipton. Better than some." The insult and compliment were obvious to all surrounding students.

Echoes and chants came along the corridor towards the pair of Ravenclaws as the duo walked to their dorm. "Not going home, Mudbloods." One spiteful Slytherin jeered and a cold chill sprinted through the bones of them both. "I suppose that even Muggles see the filth laid before them." The brunette spat at them and tears threatened to fall from the young girl's eyes. "Mr Taylor 10 points from Slytherin for the derogatory words." A distressed Hooch announced to the group who all sighed at the punishment. Sneers met the two first years.

"Thank you." A tired and bland voice spoke. "What for?" Previously reading the girl was puzzled. "Alex, you have parents who wanted you home. Do not pretend that is not true." Her pale blond hair nodded but there was no sadness in the way she responded. "They can wait. Besides, Tommy and you would be lost without me." Her joking stopped and she received a playful jab to the stomach earning a 'ugh' in response. "Tommy and I would be hopelessly lost to the joys that surround us." The pair laughed but neither were sure of the truth of those words.

"Merry Christmas." Alex was jumping on the sleeping lump until the pair fell to the floor in a hopeless mound. "Alex Tring I will beat the almighty shi..." Serenity stopped when her breath was knocked out of her. "Let us go." Alex pulled the girl up and they went to the empty common room. Only those three had remained. "You know, you could have gone home. I do not mind spending Christmas alone." They shook their heads and bunched their eyebrows together.

"Thank you." Serenity spoke as the last present was opened. A necklace and chocolates were around her as well as a knitted jumper. A rare book of 'Poison and goblin piss: a match made in heaven' lay beside her from a mysterious giver. "Seren. There is a card here." Her ginger hair was quickly pulled into a loose bun and left on her head to freely be.

Dear Serenity,

We all miss you so greatly. Dear Raphael has been crying for you so much that he did not sleep at first. Still every time he sees a picture of you he cries again. We also cannot get him to eat but he seems to deal with that when really hungry. Anyway, we are writing this in light of recent events. Not long, a day or so, after you started school at the magic one,we received a letter. A letter from your real father and then mother. You see we lost a baby at the time you were born and so a lovely man offered you to us. Unfortunately, your parents have found out about your true identity. They too are magical. The grapevine must be wide spread as they found out so quickly or at all. Now, the real kicker, they do not wish for us to tell you but instead they wish for us to leave you be. To not let you into our lives anymore. Know, baby girl, as I write this my hand and the paper is covered in my tears. I love you and can never forget you.

Love,
Mum and I am sure dad feels the same.

P.s he keeps crying and telling me to ignore the letters received.

There were tears dancing all over the freckled face and filling the glasses that kept her vision in check. Unfortunately the tears had made this impossible as her vision clouded over. Her parents were not hers and she knew not who was. "Mummy." Kept being whispered as she clutched onto the paper that was folded and delivered by some means that her parents knew how to use. Owls were not easily accessible for the muggles.

Snow rose to the knees of the overly short girl as she trudged through the field when the headmaster decided to join her. "Hello my dear." He welcomed with that familiar twinkle. "Hello. Sir?" A sound of acknowledgement was made to the girl from her right. "Why do people lie?" He really pondered this for a serious amount of time and seemed to answer after plenty of thought. "People do odd things. Like love, some marry not out of traditional love but for the friendly love that makes a person desire to be a constant companion. To not leave the other person's side." Serenity looked at the man and spoke "Professor. You sound a hammer short of a tool box." His chest rose in amusement at the term she had used.

"You look frozen." A roaring fire blasted at the three as blankets covered them all. Serenity sat between the pair whilst her legs covered one and her back the other. Soft fingers played with the silky hair that laid beneath her. "I needed to think." Alex and Tommy stared at her expecting an answer but her eyes were closed. Sensing the glares her hand pulled a familiar letter from her jumper pocket. Only when gasps came from the pair was she sure that they had read it all. "What will you do?" Tommy asked filled with worry and fear. "You could live with me." He suggested but she shrugged. "I shall discuss it with our head of house tomorrow. You are also kind for offering your house but no, I will see if I can impose on someone who I do not like first."
