As the sun shone brightly and violently through the curtain Serenity grumbled into her pillow. As her eyes had to accept the rays of pure joy. An emotion that didn't come naturally to her anymore. Blue surrounded her but she wished her family did.

"Professor, I was told that I am being collected and taken from your office." Minerva nodded and gestured to the front desk. Fawks came gliding in and Minerva took the paper from the claws. "I must be off. I will be back soon." Her words were clearly unwanted and what ever was happening was not what she wanted to happen.

The woman had left and the door was closed clearly behind her. Coming to the uneasy feet that belonged to her, Serenity came to her feet and looked at the desk. A parchment caught her eye as the woman she used to call 'mum' had clearly written it. Quickly picking it up and flicking her eyes over it, anger and disgust filed her from her feet to her head. Quickly though the paper was returned and she sat back in the seat. Constantly her mind ran over what had been written.

10th September

Dear Minerva McGonagall,

I am surprised at your letter that had been sent to us. I do however, fear that the girl you very clearly reminded me was not mine, will not take to being told to leave us alone very well. I am sorry for the fact that you lost her when she was stollen from you as a baby but I did raise her. We love her greatly and, although we do not agree with it, shall stay away from your and Albus' daughter. I hope you tell her quickly though as she has never been one to accept change very well and so a serious amount of love and support will be needed.

I am confused as to how your list knew her name to be Serenity Ellis Dumbledore when no one else knew that to be the truth but I hope that all goes well. I also know my girl well, she would like to know as soon as possible. No delays. I shall keep my distance and not reply to letters but if, when she is older, she turns up at my door I will be there for her. She has shown a lot of love and responsibility, even at such a young age and so I know her to be capable of great love but also very capable of being stubborn and in some cases unforgiving.

Good luck,
Janette and Andy Tipton.

Eventually her thoughts stopped as the door opened again and a strange person walked closely behind the woman she now knew to be her mother. "Serenity, hello." His voice was kind and he also seemed to walk on eggshells. "Hello Mr Rosamund." The pair left the room and anger flared that Minerva could let her leave, knowing the girl to be her own child.

"This is Wool's orphanage." Large halls moved in a pointed and direct line but it all seemed to be like a hospital or some mental house to her. "Where will I be staying?" Doors passed them and still they did not stop till they had almost run out of doors. "Here." The prison cell opened and inside was an uncomfortable bed with hardly any bedding on. A wardrobe was in one corner and not much more was there. A desk was present but it looked so old that she feared to use it. "Thanks." She smiled a tight lipped smile at the man who left. "I will take you back when the time comes."

Bars covered the blurred glass that sat before her. The window could not be opened due to the bars and already the glass was only a small square one that was no bigger than her handbag. The bed was brown and less inviting than spikes and thorns would have been. Still though she sat on it and placed the bags on the floor by the desk.

Tears covered the girl's face as memories of her family raced and ran through her mind. Quickly the packed bag was opened and out came a photo album. 'School is not school without family' was written on the inside cover as it had been written by one of her sisters before she left for school. Images of her family, parents, home. Life wasn't the same and never would she be able to go back, her nephew that for who knows how long she had called her own boy. 'Raphael' was clearly muttered over and over as she reminisced her old life.

The day passed with her slipping into a sleep. This was interrupted when a screech of metal came from the door. Her body shot up into a sitting position as she noticed the bottom of the door held a flap. There, on a tray, lay the 'food' that she was expected to eat for dinner.

The summer had passed painfully like this and her skin had turned even paler due to the lack of sun and the little food she ate. All of the food tasted just like a crap she once did and so most of the time she just went hungry. This routine was thankfully interrupted by Mr Rosamund who took her for the school supplies that would be needed for the second year.

Everyday tears would fall until no longer could any more tears fall. Her body had become numb to the feeling of not having parents, her family or the freedom that she so desired. Play time was unusual for her as the orphanage kept her locked up most of the time with no more than the books given to her. The subject books had been read quickly as she prepared herself for the year to come but every time she did the thoughts of 'this time last year' kept racking her brain and making her wish to forget it all.
