There the pair sat and talked. There that couple who everyone loved, sat, lying. "What have they ever done to you?" A teasing and also worried Theodore asked filled with concern. "Tell you later." There was so much annoyance and anger building up in the young girl that her evil glares would have to stop or else she would do something drastic.
Doing as they were told to the students all left and got ready for bed. However, a soft touch caused Serenity to stop in her tracks. "If you would follow me." It was her tiny head of house. His eyes seemed fixed and she nodded in agreement.
"Do we have to go to his office?" The statue was on view and rage boiled in the blood of the witch. "Yes, the professors are concerned about your holiday. How it went and all of that." The plural of professor made the rage turn to worry at it being both of her parents. 'Parents are people who raise their children, not abandon. They just couldn't keep it in their pants' a cringe was visible as the idea of the two...'no no no no' she screamed in her stubborn brain.
The office was busy and really uncomfortably filled with just things. "Oh, Miss Tipton. Please, take a seat." A stool became physical just in front of the old desk. To the right of the room were a few professors. Some she even liked. The seat was not taken though as the girl complained of being sat all day. "Now, how was your summer?" He asked with the usual gleam whilst his hands were clasped together on the desk. His shoulders were pulled with him as he intensely listened to what was going to be said. "Fine." It was curt and short but more questions were thought of with the blunt reply.
"You seem to have lost a considerable amount of weight. Is there a reason for this?" This had even the professors shook at how blunt he was. "I didn't like the food." One professor huffed at her stubborn nature. "You also seem paler than usual. Is everything alright?" Suddenly the black shoes that she wore over her toes kept her attention down. "I am just pale."
It had taken an hour and finally the man had made it to the desired questions. "What was your room like?" Slim shoulders shrugged but the glare that her head of house gave her made her realise that if she answers she leaves. "Lovely." It was almost believable. "What was in it?" No thought was given but her eyes never left the shoes. "Bed, desk, wardrobe and a pretty window." Of course the man pressed. "I bet the wind from the window was relaxing. I dare say the open door made it very well circulated" She nodded and not even Mrs Norris would believe her.
"Tell the truth." Pomona was getting impatient. "I could not open the window or door." Ginger hair covered the pale face and made the freckles disappear. "Why ever not?" His tone was curious and his eyes wide. Expecting something. "The door was locked from the outside and the window had bars on." Her voice was quiet and only the old man heard. "Speak up." Rolanda Hooch announced but Albus raised his hand to stop her. "Why was your door locked and windows barred?" Once again shoulders raised in uncertainty.
Stood to the side watching out the window Serenity pretended not to listen to the other adults constant bickering, All against the old man. "I can do nothing unless her parents step in." Still they argued about the forced and obvious abuse of neglect. "It is like a prison. She is completely isolated. No friends, family." Filius argued.
Eventually a tear fell and the old man stopped speaking. "It appears we have upset her." He spoke and obviously they all looked at the reflection from the windows. A full moon shone and lit her face fully making sure that all of the adults could see her stunning beauty. "We should stop." Dumbledore's voice was sullen and soothing. "Oh no, let me go. I will go to bed. I am just tired is all, I haven't slept too well recently. Uncomfortable bed." Her steps made no sound but they all watched as another tear fell. "Sir, I do not wish to know their identity and I am sure there is a reason why you haven't told me but you do know who they are, don't you?" His eyes stayed trained on her as he nodded slowly. "Are- are they the people that you spoke of last year? Some people marry, not for traditional love but to be companions. Are my parents the married couple?" The same reply of agreement was made.
Serenity had not even made it to the bottom of the stairs when more arguments were heard. They were lost on her though as sobs coursed through her. Tears left a trail behind her and obvious distress echoed in the corridor. Seren knew her eyes to be red and swollen as well as her throat being sore. The noise had attracted footsteps. "What are you doing out of bed?" A grubby man sneered at her. "Th-the professors wanted to speak to me." Double breathing had kicked in and she was hyperventilating. Without even thinking he grabbed her ear. "Where?" A small finger painted in the direction of Dumbledore's busy office. Soon she was being dragged by her ear to the office again.
"I caught her out of bed. She claimed to have been meeting with all of you." Filch was proud and smug as he spoke. Thinking that he had outwitted the girl. "So you thought that you would humiliate a sobbing second year?" An obviously disapproving Poppy spoke. "She was in fact with us. She speaks the truth. Minerva, please escort the girl back." His twinkling eyes showed mischief but Serenity shut it down. "I would *deep breath* prefer to just *deep breath* go alone."
Serenity found herself being escorted by the woman to her common room. "What has you so worked up?" Serenity didn't say anything as her soft steps carried on. "Miss Tipton. What has you so upset?" This time the professor had grabbed the girl's arm and so she was forced to answer the question. "I am just tired Miss." A glare met the girl who just pretended not to notice until it got too much.
"I just wish that my parents loved me. Oh well, life happens and idiots have children all the time." The professor paled at the unkind words. "What do you mean by idiots?" Wonder was woven into her voice like silk.
"People know what happens when they sleep together. My parents know who and where I am and yet they refuse to accept me. They are obviously either idiotic or unloving. I mean they won't let me see the Tipton family and they are too much of a coward to care for me. All I want is a home." McGonagall was not aware that the sentence was purposefully spoken to her but there was a sting there. Fortunately the common room had been reached. "What gets shorter the longer it is left?" Minerva didn't have a clue and was ready to try find a way around the password but her daughter spoke. "A lit candle."
"Albus, she just wants a home." The pair laid together on the large bed in just their night clothes. "Then tell her." Albus laid there blissfully unaware of the fact that their daughter knew and so found no reason to fret over the girl being told. "No, she cannot know. I will tell her when she is older, when the world is safe." Albus began to soothingly rub her back as her face nuzzled into his neck. "Are you sure that both of us will be alive?" Minerva pinched him both angrily and playfully. "Do you think she will find our marriage strange?" Albus didn't answer but instead kissed her forehead. "Albus." He was warned but still he didn't respond.
