By the time the doctor came round to see me I'd fallen asleep and had to be awoken. Dr Lawrence told me everything that happend from the time I collapse right up until my surgery.
She told me I'd have to stay in another day for monitoring and then, if all was well i'd be allowed home.
She then proceeded to check on my scar on my chest. The insition was bigger then a normal pacemaker insition. Because of some type of difficulty they had.
"It seems to be healing well" the nurse said slowly pulling off the rest of the dressing.
"I'll clean it up a little and then we can put on a clean dressing on you" she said giving me a smile, then leaving to get whatever it was she would need.
It didn't take my nurse long to get her things and change my dressing.
"When can she have the catheter removed?" Ali asked.
"I'm not sure I'd have to talk to the doctor although you're awake I'm not sure they'll let you get up and move about you had a big surgery. They would most likely leave it in for a couple more days"
Hearing that i let out a sigh. I wanted it out I was capable of getting up to use the bathroom.
The nurse chuckles "I know they're horrible things"
She leaves shortly after. Leaving myself and Ali to sit and watch the tv in my hospital room.
Alison climbed up on my bed, being mindful of my chest and got comfortable. I wrapped my left arm around her shoulders and rested my right hand on her pregnant belly, every now and then moving my hand in a circular motion.
Not even an hour later Dr Lawrence comes in, smiling at the both of us.
"Hey. Emily how're you feeling today?" She questions.
Ali moves off the bed and goes to sit back down on the chair next to my bed, where she sat before climbing into bed with me.
"Im doing ok still sore and i get uncomfortable when i lay down a certain way" i tell her.
She sits on the end of my bed and puts her hands in her lap.
"Unfortunately thats common with alot of patients, it happens it'll take time for your body to get used to it and for you too as well" she said.
"If feels really heavy in my chest, is that normal?" I asked.
She waves me off "oh yeah, again its just something you'll get used too"
"So I've heard you want that catheter out?" She chuckles.
"Yes please this thing is uncomfortable" i throw my head back and huff.
She pats her hands on her knees and stands up.
"Well i would normally say to keep it in a little longer, but I'd say you're perfectly fine to get up and walk around now and plus you're young so i dont think you'd have issues getting out of bed now you're awake now" she chuckled along with myself and Ali.
"I'll get what i need and we'll get that out for you" she told me and all i did was beam at her with relief, happy this uncomfortable thing was being taken out.
....
After Dr Lawrence took my catheter out, which by the way, they said it wouldn't be painful but it was, a nurse had brought me in some lunch and kindly brought Alison some too.
I sat eating my sub whilst Ali was eating something boring and healthy it was her choice she wanted to only eat healthy for the baby from now on, but i saw her eyeing my milkshake.
